Only 1.9% of Steam users own VR headsets.
Valve revealed this statistic after a recent hardware survey (via Road to VR)-this is the first such survey since the release of its flagship VR title "Half-Life: Alyx" in March.
This statistic represents the number of headsets connected to Steam in a particular month-this means that although it is our closest VR active user data, it does not represent connected but unused headsets.
Even so, the numbers are still fascinating. In April 2020, VR users surged, almost triple the record set in the winter of 2019. "Road to VR" reports that during this period, 950,000 sets of VR headsets were added, totaling about 2.7 million sets.
As we reported in January, Index VR headsets are already sold out in stores and online. Although Index is not the only VR helmet you can use to play Half-Life: Alyx – Valve designed games can be used with a variety of headsets-the increase in demand is likely to be directly driven by the game.
Half-Life: When Alyx was launched two months ago, it was severely hit and received a VG247 5 (out of 5) rating. Kirk talked about franchise. "The core idea of the series has been perfected and perfected, and the convincing physics principle is no longer a novelty in video games. What are the innovations of Half-Life? It turns out that Valve only needs new technology. It Only need VR. "
