Disney will not have too late to talk about the future of the Star Wars license on a big notch. And to try to ensure the critical and commercial success of the next Star Wars film, the American glove called on a filmmaker who is on the rise.

Disney therefore took advantage of the highly symbolic date of May 4 (May the 4th in the language of Shakespeare) to make an announcement regarding Star Wars movies. Indeed, Disney has just officialized that a new Star Wars film will be produced and co-written by Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Ragnarok and of the last episode of the last episode the first season of The Mandalorian.
The duo of writers behind this new film will be occupied by Krysty Wilson-Cairns, a Oscar-nominated screenwriter recently co-author of the 1917 film. Unfortunately for Star Wars fans, the release date and title of this new film is not have not been revealed by Disney.
note in passing thata new Star Wars series to be broadcast on Disney + has also been announced by Disney today. The latter will be written and will have "showrunner" Leslye Headland (Russian Doll, Bachelorette). This new series has no release date either. Fans of Star Wars will in any case not miss new content to be chewed over the next few years.
