There is no doubt that The Mandalorian is one of the series that sweeps Disney Plus, so much so that it has already secured a third season before it the second one this fall. And one of the questions that many fans of the series have been asking for a while is the question of origin of "El Niño", better known as Baby Yoda.
Who or what is this creature? Where exactly does it come from? What is your real purpose in The Mandalorian? Is it good or does it hide a dark personality? There are many questions that arise from a simple curiosity such as knowing for sure who Baby Yoda is, but for now we will have to settle for theories about it than offer various possibilities to solve this mystery.
What is already clarified by himself John Favreau, executive producer and one of the creators of this project for Disney Plus, is that this creature it's not baby yoda, that is it's not Yoda in baby versionsince they exist in Unsupported timelines. Even though Baby Yoda is 50 years old, he is a child born after Yoda's death, so it could not be him in any case.
With that said, we get into value other options quite commented that surely will interest you. They are only conjectures, of course, because we will not really discover the truth of this matter until the series introduces us the origin of Baby Yoda and confirm, or deny, our suspicions.
Yoda and Yaddle's son?
This is probably the theory with more followers than there are about Baby Yoda's identity. If "El Niño" is 50 years old, Yoda dies at the end of Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian happens between this movie and The Force Awakens (we leave you a chronological order here), the timelines would be the correct ones for this to be true.
Despite this, we must take into account the detail that Jedi don't usually pair up, because their way of living would not allow them to be rooted in a family or really "own" anything, although there have always been exceptions. One of these relationships could have arisen between Yoda and Yaddle (a member of the Jedi Council at the time of the Phantom Menace), resulting in this Baby Yoda that we all adore. The numbers favor this theory, so it would be a somewhat expected form of connect this new story to the Star Wars saga.
Baby Yoda is a mushroom
It might seem silly to you, but if we consider that Jedi are not really allowed to raise families, it would be expected that the Yoda species would perpetuate itself in another way, in an asexual way, like fungi, giving rise to some type of split or “spore” from which a new and complete individual could come out.
This theory could marry if it wasn't for we know that this species feeds on other animals (remember the frog that Baby Yoda eats), so it would not necessarily coincide with the way of fungi in general, although there are species that they are carnivorous, but they do not make an oral intake so typical of the animal kingdom.
Other potential follies
And since there is no nothing that can be taken for granted about Baby Yoda, we have been good at contemplating other realities that could or might not be in this magnificent universe to which the Mandalorian has introduced us.
-
Baby Yoda is the product of an illicit love for which the Jedi Code had to be broken, so the baby could reach become a being worse than Anakin Skywalker (AKA Darth Vader) and for this matter they decided to send him to an almost desert world.
-
Baby Yoda is a reincarnation of old Yoda who has decided to return to the universe to fight the Empire.
-
Could be a metaphorthat is, a creature capable of copy appearance of other? This is a possibility that must be weighed in a world so cruel like that of The Mandalorian.
-
Another possibility is that this creature, like Yoda, by belonging to a species that lasts so many years, it takes a long time to become an adult and therefore there are only a few at a time, as it happens with the ancient trees or turtles.
-
Baby Yoda is a clone of others of its kind that an Empire scientist had the courage to save to avoid extinction of the species.
-
Baby Yoda is the last of its kind, a rare creature that does not exist anywhere else and is known to have a incredible affinity with the Force, so the Empire wants to investigate with her to create a weapon of mass destruction.
-
Baby Yoda is the last of its kind, a rare creature that does not exist anywhere else and is known to have a incredible affinity with the Force, for what the Empire wants Get rid of her to prevent another advent of another really powerful Jedi capable of standing up to any member of the Empire; come on, follow in Yoda's footsteps.
-
Baby Yoda doesn't have nothing kind and it's actually a criminal mind who leads a wide network of criminals and it was he himself hired the Mandalorian to carry out a plan that we still do not know.
What do you think about you all these theories, is there one that convinces you more or you have yours own? It is difficult to make too many plausible guesses of something we don't have much information about, although knowing the taste of the series for plot twists, it is more than likely that we have a good surprise with Baby Yoda and this one has such an exciting story (for better or for worse) that it ends up becoming the true protagonist of The Mandalorian.
