Here's a story we never expected to cover – Crossing the Animals: New Horizons The players were apparently fired by Facebook for talking about weed.
The story over Polygon reveals how at least "two different Animal Crossing platform groups" have released PSAs from their communities to stop using certain words. One is "weed" and the other is "trade" and has caused Facebook to remove posts and uploads, and then issue a warning.
One manager of the UK's Animal Crossing team, which has over 34,000 members, summarizes it well:
They must think we are using narcotics
A Facebook user who is part of someone else The Animal Crossing group added how their community was in danger of being shut down because they also talked often about dealing with weeds on their tropical islands and trading this and that.
It is all tied to the Facebook community standards that these groups have broken – according to direct warnings from the social media platform.
As noted by Polygon, when it comes to regulated goods: You can't sell or buy non-medical drugs on the platform, and Facebook automatically tags a discussion about weed in Animal Crossing and disproves it for something else. Admins are now forced to take action:
We remove any posts that contain the W plant name
So the next time you need help planning your island, just pay attention to what it says.
