Making-of The Dark Pictures: Little Hope presents its influences and the changes made

Expected this summer on consoles and PC, Little Hope will narrate a new chapter of the Dark Pictures Anthology. In the meantime, Pete Samuels, president of Supermassive Games and director of the title, tells us about the changes made following the returns to Man of Medan, as well as the influences that mark this new opus.

To begin, Samuels begins by indicating that the title takes place nowadays, in the fictional city of Little Hope in New England, a very small town marked by witch hunts of the XVIIth century. The lifespan for a first part should be 4 or 5 hours, but the game is designed to be replayed multiple times because different branches will be available. As for the characters in The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, this is a group of students made up of Taylor, Andrew, Daniel, Angela, and their teacher, John. They find themselves caught in the fog and no longer know how to leave.

Players will have to find out what is going on if they want to leave, while avoiding the dangers of this cursed place. The influences obvious from The witch, of Season of the Witch and of Blair Witch are felt, but the title also draws from the side of Hellraiser, of It follows, of The curse and of silent Hill. Pete Samuels also presents the costumes of the characters of the modern era, before moving on to differences from the first title. So Little Hope will have new camera options, the characters will move to different speeds depending on the terrain, an improvement in interactions with the elements is planned, in the company of upcoming QTE and more marked visual alerts.
