CD Project's upcoming role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 has received a US age rating of "Mature 17+" from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), which corresponds to a rating of "over 18 years" in this country. A Brazilian age rating had recently appeared, suggesting dark and adult topics.

But there are still tons of new ones hidden in the entry Gameplay details around sex, violence and morethat we unravel here for you. As the developer clarifies to us, the information on the rating board for in-game purchases is also incorrect – Cyberpunk 2077 will continue to receive no microtransactions.

Update from May 6th at 1:55 p.m .: We added the developer's statement regarding in-game purchases.

All new gameplay information for Cyberpunk 2077

  • Violence: You can stab enemies with melee weapons, such as improved body parts or stab weapons, and in some cases also cut off body parts. Screams of pain can be heard during the fast fights. There are also explosions or bloody splatter effects.
  • In the game world you can sometimes find corpses on which open wounds including organs visible are. There is also talk of a concrete mission "in which we help a character by hitting nails in the hands and feet, which is accompanied by screams and blood." Let's hope that we shouldn't nail those to the cross as well.
  • Sex / nudity: With the character adjustment you see different sizes and combinations of primary and secondary genitals, as well as the buttocks of your figure. In the game you have the opportunity to have sex – with other important characters as well as prostitutes.
  • Sex takes place from a first person perspective and shows naked figures changing positions and moaning. Everything is not shown, but in some scenes you can observe explicit "shock animations" or the movement of a character's head towards the partner's step.
  • Drugs too and somewhat harsher language / curses can be found in the game.
  • No in-game purchases: In-game purchases are reported for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. According to CD Projekt, this information is incorrect. The developer made it clear to us: »Cyberpunk 2077 will not have any micropayments or other in-game payment options. We always said and will stay that way. You pay exactly once for this game – if you buy it «.
  • The developer wants to clarify the misleading statement and add a more detailed statement, which we will add here. Like The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 should also be expanded. Microtransactions have been excluded in the past.
