Trailer: Dirt 5 is reminiscent of Forza Horizon 4
Codemasters used the Xbox 20/20 live event to announce the successor to the DiRT rally series: In its first trailer, DiRT 5 mainly falls through the colorful coloring on. While the predecessors were more reserved, DiRT 5 uses the inkwell more generously and also presents itself with a strikingly cheerful soundtrack.
The new DiRT appears in October 2020 for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Porting to the next generation of consoles will follow later. The official description summarizes what the new racing game wants to do differently from its predecessors:
"DiRT 5 writes a new chapter in DiRT's legacy – bolder and more daring than ever – and heralds the next generation of racing. New functions, new innovations and a fresh approach make DiRT 5 the hub of the pimped off-road racing, its style and its culture, in which no two races are ever the same. "
On their own website, more information was published about what kind of racing game awaits you in DiRT 5. These features are included:
- Routes around the globe
- Wide range of vehicles from rally bodies to off-road vehicles to GT racing cars
- Career mode with "star cast"
- Split-screen multiplayer for four players
- "Innovative online modes"
- Vehicle customization options

The Dirt Rally 2.0 roadmap ends
The last part of the series was released in 2019 with Dirt Rally 2.0, which convinced us in the test with sensible improvements and high rally standards. With numerous updates as part of four seasons, a comprehensive racing experience was developed.
As the developers of Codemasters announced in the blog post, they will be in the future no major updates for Dirt Rally 2.0 anymore appear. Regularly changing challenges and club gameplay should continue as usual.
After the offshoot trimmed for realism, it is now the turn of the more arcaded main series from DiRT (without rally), which last received an entry in 2017 with DiRT 4. Here, too, we were almost enthusiastic about the test.
