Yesterday, Microsoft presented the first titles for the upcoming Xbox Series X console in its "Xbox 20/20" format. And there was no saving: a total of 13 games were shown and most were world premieres. In addition to the in-house names, there were also some titles from other manufacturers, especially Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
Almost all of the games support Microsoft's new Smart Delivery program: If you buy the title for Xbox One, you can later upgrade to the version for Xbox Series X for free. The reverse is also true: If you buy the game for Xbox Series X, you also own it for Xbox One. Basically, Smart Delivery will be available for all Microsoft and Xbox first-party games, including Halo: Infinite.
Bright Memory: Infinite
Bright Memory: Infinite combines fast ball games like Call of Duty and jumps as well as wall runs in the best Titanfall style. In close combat, swords are also used, with which the opponents can even be cut. You play Agent Shelia, who works for an organization in 2036 that investigates supernatural phenomena. Even time travel is on the plan if you're trying to figure out where a wormhole is on Earth.
The combat system relies on speed, combo mechanics and a flexible skill system with which you should be able to develop your own playing style. Bright Memory: Infinite looks like a triple-A title in the graphically chic trailer, but is made as an Indiegame by the Chinese one-man developer FYQD Studio.
DiRT 5
DiRT 5 should become more realistic, larger and more exciting. The off-road spectacles take place on routes around the world, for example in the USA, China and Norway. Different route layouts are possible as well as different weather conditions. A profound story should be offered in career mode. To underline this, the protagonist is spoken by Troy Baker, while his opponent is set to music by Nolan North.
Dozens of real cars and varied tuning and design options should also be included. An arcade and a four-player split screen mode have also been announced. It is driven in 4K resolution with 60 frames per second. There should also be an option for 120 Hertz. DiRT 5 also supports Smart Delivery. Here you can find our news about DiRT 5.
Scorn
The horror title takes you into nightmarish worlds that you explore from a first-person perspective. Each area should offer its own stories, characters and puzzles that you have to solve. Stylistically, Scorn is extremely reminiscent of the alien films – no wonder, as developer Ebb Software got inspiration from HR Giger, the creator of the xenomorphs.
Chorus
Chorus is a space shooter. With your ship Forsaken you deliver fast dogfights in zero gravity, in which you can use different weapon systems. The action should be all about classic space shooters, but not without a dense story. In terms of graphics, 4K, 60 fps and ray tracing are on the plan. Chorus also supports Smart Delivery.
Madden NFL 21
Patrick Mahomes, quarterback and Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs, introduced the latest installment in the long-running series. But there was no real information. The only exception was the announcement that Madden NFL 21 will also support the Smart Delivery program.
Vampires: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
The bloodsucking action takes place in a dark, alternative Seattle. There are various shadow societies here between which you can move. Alliances are forged, but they also create hostilities. In addition to horror, action is inevitably part of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Thanks to Cross-Save, you can start on Xbox One and continue seamlessly on Xbox Series X, because smart delivery is also supported. Here you can find our news about Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
Call of the Sea
In the 1930s, as Norah, you were looking for your husband who disappeared during an expedition. Your search for answers leads you to a mysterious island in the South Pacific. Call of the Sea is a mix of exploration and riddles, in which occult and supernatural events play a role. But it shouldn't be a horror game. Call of the Sea will also support Smart Delivery. Here you can find our news about Call of the Sea.
The Ascent
An action RPG in cyberpunk style – that's The Ascent. Alone or with three players, there are numerous areas open to you, ranging from the slum to the luxury area. From the top-down perspective, you experience battles in which large parts of the environment can be destroyed. Defeated enemies drop new items like armor. You can also improve your character in a variety of ways with so-called cyberware.
The Medium
Bloober Team, the makers of Blair Witch and Observer, remain true to the horror. As a medium Marianne you move between the real world and the level of the spirits. So you try to get to the bottom of the reason for the excruciating vision of child murder. In addition to psychological horror, duality is said to be a central theme of The Medium. For a correspondingly dense soundscape, the team works with Akira Yamaoka, who is responsible for the soundtrack to Silent Hill. Here you can find our news about The Medium.
Scarlet Nexus
This new action role-playing game comes from Bandai Namco. In the form of the psychokinetically gifted warrior Yuito Sumeragi, you fight the Others, bizarre creatures with flowers on their bodies. Thanks to his special powers, Yuito can not only attack with his sword, but also throw cars and other objects at his sometimes huge opponents. Scarlet Nexus also supports Smart Delivery.
Second Extinction
Mutant dinosaurs have taken over the Earth and you have to stop them. Second Extinction is a first person shooter designed for co-op action. However, it is not only in the team, because after work you have to escape together from the respective area. With rewards earned, you then buy new weapons and upgrades to be ready for the next mission. Second Extinction also supports Smart Delivery.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Yakuza: Like a Dragon has been announced as the Xbox Series X launch title. Instead of Kiryu Kazuma, you slip into the skin of Ichiban Kasuga in the seventh part of the series. Other innovations include the Yokohama location and the new combat system. This time the fights take place in role play form. In addition, you gradually gather other characters around you, who also get strong. What remained are the many fun mini-games, including Sega machines and karaoke. Yakuza: Like a Dragon will support Cross-Save and will also be part of the Smart Delivery program. Here you can find our news about Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
New information about the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Valhalla has not been revealed. There was a new trailer for this, which follows below. Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will also support Smart Delivery. All previous information about the game can be found in our special for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
The live stream ended after about 50 minutes. Many trailers were shown, but with a few exceptions there were no actual gameplay impressions. Even Assassin's Creed: Valhalla was guilty of the announced first game scenes – even though the title of the trailer points to this …
