So far, Apex Legends has been a pure PvP game. Season 5 is supposed to change that with Season Quests. Every week you can soon have a new chapter Story about the individual legends experience by playing the new PvE mode.
However, there is a catch: If you want to get the Mode rewards, you'll first need to locate a number of items in regular Battle Royale battles. If you can do without things like cosmetics, you can join other players' rounds.
PvE and co-op against wild beasts
Information about the new game mode was found in the game files a long time ago. The gameplay details have changed a bit though. It will so-called huntshunts. For them you have to fight alone or as a team against the beasts in King's Canyon, find an artifact and then escape with the dropship.
The most important information:
- Begin: May 19, 2020
- Treasure packs: You have to find Treasure Packs in the regular matches. You can receive a maximum of one per day. If you have five, you unlock a new chapter.
- The PvE mode: You can visit King's Canyon at night alone or with up to three players to collect artifact pieces in a hunt.
- Story: These artifacts tell you more about the characters of the game. In the first season you will find out what the »Broken Ghost« is all about.
- Replayable: You can repeat all unlocked hunts as often as you like throughout the season.
Pure PvE players can pay: If absolutely nothing can bring you into a PvP match, you can alternatively buy the Treasure Packs. They will cost 25 apex coins each (about 0.25 euros). To unlock a weekly chapter, you pay around 1.25 euros. Since a story always consists of nine artifacts, each season incurs 11.25 euros. 45 seasons are due with four seasons per year.
What is the story about?
The story of Season 5 is built around the new legend Loba. It is on one Vengeance campaign against Revenantwho killed her parents. To achieve her goal, she spins a web of lies and intrigue. A mystery is uncovered, which should not only change the relationships between the legends, but also the game universe itself.
This should make Apex Legends interesting for those of you who Battle Royale can not win anything and actually much prefer to have a Titanfall 3.
In the past, fans of Apex Legends have always been positive the exciting story, which was previously only told in the launch trailers for the individual seasons. The trailer for Revenant in particular caused a sensation.
