Back to the cursed Commodore console: the Amiga CD32! A console which on paper was to revolutionize everything and which in reality accompanied Commodore in its final fall. It is therefore a sad story to which I invite you but rest assured we will still talk in detail about this machine with multiple resources and which today still arrives to amaze us!
Indeed it is a sad story which I invite you: we will (re) discover together the Amiga CD32 console, the first western console 32 Bits (the first was actually FM Town Marty).
A "so British" console which finally had little support from the editors who with great laziness only made simple CD conversions of their Amiga 500 and 1200 games.
So of course some tried to make us dream with this machine (Psygnosis and its Microcosm for example) but from the start, in 1993, everything was badly engaged: when the console comes out in store, Commodore announces a recovery plan with the closure many sites.
Opposite the competition weighs heavy: Sega announces its Saturn, Sony its PlayStation, Panasonic its 3DO, Atari its Jaguar, SNK its Neo Geo CD, NEC its PC-FX and on the spot the old bikes are resisting: Super Nintendo, Mega Drive, PC Engine Duo, Neo Geo … Gamers no longer knew where to turn because there was a profusion of machines advertised and / or available …
Well at the end it was Sony who calmed everyone but at the start we were really wondering who was going to win this battle to conquer our living room or our bedroom.
At the same time, we will follow the decline of Commodore, which was unable to negotiate the turn of the 90s where players were migrating more and more towards the green horizons of PCs and more and more attractive game consoles …
