Definitely Epic Games is the protagonist of the day after presenting this afternoon the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine with a demo that has left us speechless. Not content with that, the company has also taken the opportunity to announce that Fortnite will feature a version that will be available from the first day in PS5 and Xbox Series X.
To be clear, Epic Games has indicated that the game will remain the same as always, although it will be optimized for take advantage of the features and power of these new consoles. In fact, these versions will look better than the others because precisely will make use of Unreal Engine 5.
The only thing to point out in this regard is that this will not occur from start and during the first months the version will be developed with Unreal Engine 4. Therefore, it will be from mid 2021 when the title of the jump from one engine to another.
Epic Games has also indicated that its intention is that this new version be compatible with others and therefore have support for cross-play. In turn, it will also be tried to have support for cross-progression so that players keep their accounts and do not need to create a new one.
