The one that is probably the most anticipated fighting game of the year is no longer: while the editor Bandai Namco still maintained a release for the last quarter of 2020, Guilty Gear Strive sees today its exit window shifted, as producer Takeshi Yamanaka has just stated through the twitter account Arc System Works:
We previously announced the release of Guilty Gear -Strive- by the end of 2020. However, we decided to postpone it in early 2021.
Although our employees and partners are working hard to integrate the resulting changes from the COVID-19 epidemic, every aspect of development has lagged behind.
This postponement will also allow the teams of the Yokohama studio to take into account the not always welcome feedback from the first closed beta which was held from April 17 to 19:
We have also decided to put in place a schedule to improve the quality of the game by incorporating feedback and comments from players following the recent closed beta.
We sincerely apologize to everyone who looked forward to this release. We are at work to offer a new Guilty Gear that will meet the expectations of all our fans. Be sure that we will take advantage of all this extra time to achieve this goal. Thank you for your understanding.
So all you have to do is drown your sorrow in the educational videos released by Arc System Works to fool boredom, while waiting the release of Guilty Gear Strive on arcade and PlayStation 4, now scheduled for the beginning of the year 2021.
