As we previously shared with you, a new plugin has been released for classic DOOM and it's already available free. The pack called Deathless It includes 25 maps.

Well, in an interview with Bethesda, the creator James Paddock reveals how you created the maps for the project. These were his statements:

This is where I talk about speed maps! I have had a fair amount of experience in the field, having contributed countless times to the speed mapping sessions organized by various people at Doomworld. I knew that I would enter with this same philosophy. These are velocity maps in basically every sense of the word.

People who know me may be familiar with my approach, in which I quickly develop an entire episode of maps, putting everything in one mapping session. I draw all the maps on the grid separated from each other and list them one by one. This makes it very quick and easy to move between maps and copy and paste important things like doors, exit rooms, teleporters, etc., whose designs I try to keep consistent.

I can make a complete design without texture in about 10 minutes. The texture doesn't take me long, maybe 30 minutes to an hour? Setting things up then takes me a couple of hours or so. The tests have no time limit because I think it is important that the map is playable as best as possible.

DOOM is a first person shooter title released in 1993 and developed by ID Software, a small study then formed by John Carmack, Tom Hall and John Romero published by Bethesda Softworks. This saga has several installments, but in late July 2019 DOOM, DOOM II and DOOM 3 arrived by surprise at the Switch eShop to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series.
