2017 Fantasy Flight, a juggernaut in the board game world because of things like Game of Thrones and star Wars, turned on the video game studio. Thinking two years later, Fantasy Flight Interactive is closing its doors.
The idea was to make the studio work in two ways: convert existing Fantasy Flight games to video games, but also make new games based on licenses the company was already holding.
At that time the studio released one game, digital adaptation of The Lord of the Rings a card game that cut essentials from the tablet version and threw the game over It was heardDirecting.
Via Gamasutra, with the announcement closed on a Linkedin post by studio head Tim Gerritsen, who wrote:
It is with great sadness that I have to report that the decision has been taken to close Fantasy Flight Interactive next month. I am proud of the team and game we have dedicated to the last few years. It's been a great trip with some amazing people. I will do my best to get my team into new positions. I have program designers, designers, artists, QA staff and producer to get me placed in new roles and will do my best to do that quickly. Additionally, I am now open to new opportunities myself as I will be out of work.
Other digital types of Fantasy Flight games, as a future Celebrations of the madness, are not affected as they are being developed externally and published by Asmodee Digital.
