Geoff Keighley, well-known creator and presenter of the annual awards ceremony The Game Awards, has ensured that this year’s edition will take place next December, as usual since 2014. In an interview with the media VenturebeatKeighley explained that he currently manages five different plans for its celebration depending on the circumstances that COVID-19 developed at the time.
«We will produce the show this year in DecemberKeighley clarifies. “99% of the audience is digital worldwide. 5,000 people gather at the physical venue«. In the worst case scenario, The Game Awards 2020 would have to be held completely digitally, as it is happening with the Summer Game Fest, a digital festival created by Keighley himself in which the different digital events of companies in the video game sector are broadcast as an alternative to E3 2020.
In addition to awarding prizes to video games, including the coveted Game of the Year award, The Game Awards also serves as an event to present news about the next major releases. In last year’s edition, in which records were broken by viewers, the new Xbox console was presented along with Senua’s Saga Hellblade II.
