PS5 trophies will also unlock in-game rewards

Last week, Sony finally gave a first look at the interface of the PlayStation 5, letting us see some features such as the Control Center or Activities, among others. However, the UI also showed us a novelty that went unnoticed: the possibility of obtaining rewards by unlocking trophies.

Twitter user observed a relevant detail in the video. In the screenshots below you can clearly see that the trophies of Destruction AllStars, the second title featured in the demo, include rewards such as a profile picture and a banner. The card shows the rarity level of the trophy, the objective to obtain it and its respective prize. We are facing a totally new proposal – on Sony consoles – that will debut on the PlayStation 5.

Strangely, the company didn’t delve into this feature at first glance. Despite the above, Sid Shuman, communication director of Sony Interactive Entertainment, made it clear that in the coming weeks – prior to launch – they will release more information on the interface of the PS5. It will be interesting to know if the rewards will only offer content to be used within the game; they may also be items for the PlayStation Network profile.

A couple of weeks ago we told you that the PlayStation trophy system received major changes

ahead of the launch of the PS5. For example, the maximum level was extended to 999 (before 100) and an algorithm is responsible for determining your new rank depending on the trophies you have achieved to date. Additionally, the progression system will allow you to ascend faster in the first levels; the difficulty will increase as you progress.

It’s important pointing that Trophies earned on PS4 will carry over to PlayStation 5, in such a way that you will be able to keep the progression of your profile and keep growing by enjoying new generation games. The PS5 will be available in United States on November 12, while Europe will receive it a week later, on November 19.
