The Monster Hunter World: Iceborne PC release was largely without problems. However, some players report that every gamers nightmare has caught up with them: their hard-earned saves were lost. When launching the game, some received an error message stating that no compatible file could be found while querying the save status. If you continue, the game creates a new savegame that immediately overwrites the old one.
Not even a cloud backup is the saving solution, since this too will be overwritten as soon as you end the game. Of course, PC owners did not expect these circumstances. The anger is great, and the question of why this problem arose has not yet been answered.
The assumptions go mainly in two directions: On the one hand, older mods could be the cause of the error, others see the reason more in accounts with which Monster Hunter World had not been played for a long time. They may have missed a change in the game format. If you haven't played Iceborne yet, you should make a local backup before you start the game next time.
