But that’s not all, because the game industry’s worst kept secret in recent months has now also been officially confirmed: The first three parts of the series, which have been celebrated by critics and the community, are celebrating their comeback as part of a remaster trilogy. Under the name Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Mass Effect (2007), Mass Effect 2 (2010) and Mass Effect 3 (2012) appear in an optimized form – but not Mass Effect: Andromeda. In addition to the single player and all DLC content, the new edition also includes all promo weapons, armor and packs. The upgrade consists primarily in an optimization for 4K image output. Incidentally, textures, shaders, models, effects and other technical features of today have been adapted and will enable a much more opulent enjoyment of the sci-fi epic. According to Hudson, the goal was not only to create a simple remake of the originals, but also to create a more modern gaming experience.
The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be released in spring 2021 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but will also be compatible with the new PS5 and Xbox Series X / S platforms.
