PS5 DualSense controller is now available on Steam

PS5 DualSense controller can now be used on a PC, albeit with disadvantages.

The PlayStation 5 DualSense controller can now be used on Steam, but many of its signature features are not yet compatible.

DualSense has been well received by the media and early adopters of PS5. It is one of the main features of the system that makes it stand out from the competition. The integration of haptic feedback with many PS5 release games in particular shows great potential.

However, that “still” is doing some heavy work. This indicates that PC players may use these functions in the future. The question is, can the integration be fully mature and transferable from PS5 without much developer input? If so, it will be a great feature for PC players.

Elsewhere in the update, we noticed a small change that “fixes the Xbox Series X controller displayed as 2 separate controllers”.

This is all good news. Now, those who are lucky enough to have next-generation consoles and gaming PCs can get double duty from their new controllers.

This is also some good news for PC players. Now you can use the controller on Steam… although so far, the definition of haptic feedback is still missing.

Valve pointed out compatibility in the patch notes for Steam Client Beta. This means that users who opted into the Beta version can now use the controller as an input device. But this is what they can do now. Please note that “Advanced functions such as rumble, touchpad and gyroscope are not yet supported.”
