Veteran Ubisoft and BioWare workers found Yellow Brick Games, their new independent studio

A new studio to develop video games is always synonymous with diversity of ideas and exciting challenges for the industry. Therefore, it is fantastic to see how a group of veterans of teams with as much reputation as Ubisoft Y Bioware, have decided to join forces to create Yellow Brick Games.

Headquartered in Québec City in Canada, the independent studio has been formed by Mike Laidlaw

, former creative director of Dragon Age and with the same position at Ubisoft. In the founding team there are also Thomas Giroux, Jeff Skalski Y Frédéric St-Laurent B, which have been part of Bioware, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts Y Activision Blizzard.

In front of Yellow Brick Games Giroux is CEO, Skalski is COO as well as Executive Producer; Laidlaw is the Creative Director, while St-Laurent B is the Game Director.

Among his first statements is the first project they are working on, which is unknown

and that has 15 employees behind it. Their “artisan approach” will differ from what they have been used to all these years working on triple A.

“We want to emphasize a ‘back to basics approach’, focused on the pleasure of creating new gaming experiences, in a flexible and more pleasant environment that an independent study can provide“, dijo Giroux.
