It is a fact that Apple users will be able to enjoy Xbox Series X controllers on iPhone and iPad, according to information posted on Apple’s official website.
While it’s not clear at this time how long it will take Apple to certify the new X-series controllers, there are indications that DualSense support may arrive soon.
IPhone and iPad will be compatible with Xbox Series X controller
The confirmation of this alliance comes less than two weeks after the Xbox Series X and Series S launched, which clearly shows Apple’s desire to provide support for new drivers on its devices.
A few weeks ago it was also confirmed that iOS 14.3, currently in beta, “appears to include support for the PS5 controller and Amazon Luna.”
The support website says:
“Microsoft and Apple are working together to bring support for Xbox Series X controllers to customers in a future update.”
This is not the first time the two companies have worked together to improve the compatibility of Xbox controllers. At the moment, it is possible to use the wireless controls of previous generation consoles to play on iOS and iPadOS: DualShock 4, from PS4, and the first and second generation Xbox wireless controllers and the included controller Xbox Adaptive Controller, released by Microsoft two years ago.
In addition, Apple worked with Microsoft to add Xbox Elite Controller 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controller support to iOS 14 at the start of this year.
However, this new support should not last as long as the year that delayed the start of development of other compatibilities.
