Cyberpunk 2077: Ray tracing only on NVIDIA graphics cards

After CD Projekt RED published the updated system requirements, another detail emerged that gamers who are flirting with one of the new AMD graphics cards will not please.

Cyberpunk 2077 will support the currently popular ray tracing only on NVIDIA graphics cards when the game is released on December 10th. Marcin Momot from CD Projekt RED has now confirmed this via Twitter. Although they are working with AMD to support ray tracing on AMD cards as well, when this will be the case, it is still in the stars.

A bitter pill for cyberpunk fans who have already flirted with one of the new AMD Radeon graphics cards. The main problem is likely to be that the AMD cards, unlike NVIDIA’s RTX series, do not use dedicated cores for ray tracing. The effect must be generated elsewhere, which, however, has a significant negative impact on performance.

One can assume that support for AMD cards will be a while in coming. It may be integrated in parallel with the next-gen upgrade of the console versions that is to follow in the coming year.
