It was already clear that the tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Siege would also make the leap to the next-gen consoles. Now there is also a release date and more information.

Ubisoft has done nails with the next-gen upgrade of the long-standing and successful tactical shooter Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege. In a press release, the developer and publisher confirmed today that the specially optimized game versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S will be available from December 1, 2020 – and therefore in just a few days.

Of course, the successful title will then also be specially optimized for the powerful new consoles. In addition to many other improvements, you will especially notice this in terms of graphics, because Rainbow Six: Siege is displayed on these platforms in 4K resolution and at up to 120 fps.

Also positive: As you can with most cross-gen titles, you can also upgrade Rainbow Six: Siege free of charge within the device family, if you already have a version for PS4 or Xbox One. In addition, the game progress that has already been made can be transferred from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Xbox Series X / S.

And: The next-gen version will also support cross-play with the respective predecessor console, so that PS4 players can compete against PS5 players and Xbox One players against XSX players. Cross-play between the different console families or between PC and consoles has to wait and is not supported for the time being.

In addition, the following features are implemented for an enhanced next-generation experience across all platforms:

  • Better accessibility (readability options, text to speech and speech to text)

  • Quick start (optimized login flow, streamlined intro sequence)

  • Ubisoft Connect Overlay
