Any hint of looking over my shoulder at the choice of a scuf or professional controller was completely erased from my stock catalog after testing the I send Elite from Xbox. Now the Nacon Revolution Unlimited Pro Controller and, with it, an alternative to consider on PS4.

Shortcut buttons, weight customization, configuration of four different profiles and a design that will dazzle those looking coarser and larger knobs in your hands. I really feel bad having met him so late at the gates of PS5, because it would have easily given the door to the DualShock 4 for a remote like this.

Very successful combination of design and materials

With the Xbox joystick settings As a great asset, both the width of the controller and the body of the horns is noticeably larger than the original PS4 controller. Regarding the front buttons, the thing does not differ much more in its placement, but it does in the touch.

To a slightly greater travel and size of the buttons it is also necessary to add the touch. It’s still plastic, but it’s one of those materials soft to the touch, as if they had a certain fluffiness that is not really such a thing. Of those materials that are pleasant to pass your hand over and are more comfortable and warmer than a basic plastic without much pretensions that prevent dust from seeping through.

The same configuration carries over to the back where the fingers rest. The back of the horns, on the other hand, has a more traditional plastic feel that offers some relief with grooves to guarantee a hold.

Closing that curve are the four additional configurable buttons that will come from pearls not to move the fingers of the site in more competitive games like Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. Next to them, on the back of the controller, the button to change the profile, jump from wired to wireless mode and three additional buttons to control the volume of the microphone and headphones.

A careful customization

In the accompanying hard shell case are two of the key features of this model. On the one hand the USB skewer with antenna that will allow us to play wirelessly on both the console and the PC with an autonomy of about six or seven hours, always depending on the use and the vibration.

If you are of mine and you are still tied to the cables, there is also the option to play via braided cable USB type C. Three meters of cord that ensure that the control or console is not going to take wind when someone runs in front of the TV (three kids, I know what I’m talking about).

The other surprise that it includes is the box in which weights, mushrooms and stops for analogs rest. The first, with two weights of 10, 14 and 16 grams, are added to the rear of the raised horns. A compartment that is easy to open and in which they rest tightly enough so that there are no strange movements or noises inside the remote.

Needless to say, there is no color between the weight offered by this Nacon and the traditional Sony remote control and, although it is a matter of taste, I have not taken long to fix the 16 g weights. One note, yes, it would not have been bad to be able to place them higher to distribute the weight better, but it is still much more comfortable than playing without them.

Without great fanfare on the mushrooms, the other additional option is to add stops on the joystick by exchanging the cylinder that comes by default, the thinnest of all, for two additional options that are much thicker. It’s not something that I just got the point of, but I understand to what extent they can be useful.

Not everything is applause for Nacon

The most important part of Nacon Revolution Unlimited Pro Controller It is not in the thing itself, but in the options it offers at the software level. From the modification program you can fiddle with the four profiles that are saved in the remote control at will, from adjusting the curve of each joystick to marking the inverted axes by default.

Of course you can also remap buttons and download or share settings from other users, which leaves us room to talk about one of the points that have least convinced me about the pad. Both the upper and rear buttons and triggers have not managed to make me fall in love as other scuf controls have.

Regarding the L y R I have missed a little more pampering in its click and travel, as well as the possibility of mechanically controlling the top of the triggers. Below, on the four additional buttons, the placement of them is no more comfortable for me than, for example, the interchangeable levers.

I don’t have exactly short fingers – although I do have small hands – but I had the feeling that I had to think about using them instead of just doing it. Is it so too hidden and hunched over towards the front, which makes reaching them and differentiating them by touch not particularly easy. Hopefully they give that a spin in future releases.

iGamesNews’s opinion

Delighted with the quality of materials, design and its configuration options, There are only complaints in those points in which the comparison with other professional controls play a trick on him. Luckily, all of the above ends up weighing more than accessing additional buttons and, if you come from the Dual Shock, it is undeniable that there is no color between one and the other.

The Nacon Revolution Unlimited Pro Controller it’s juicy enough that it’s hard not to be wanting to see what else the young company is pulling out of its sleeve in the new generation. In any case, whether you have jumped already or not, if you are looking for a professional controller for PS4 or PC and you come across one of these there are more than enough reasons to stop, take a look, and see if they convince you.
