The global Covid-19 pandemic has boosted the video game economy. Every player in the industry presented eloquent financial results this year. This is understandable as millions of people had to find a way to take care of themselves at home during this difficult time.
Another trend that could intensify in this very specific situation is de-materialized sales. The latter are already increasingly successful, regardless of the cultural content (music, films or video games).
In terms of the game Cyberpunk 2077 from the Polish studio CD project REDThe trend definitely seems to be confirmed according to the latest statements from the company’s CFO: Piotr Nielubowicz.
More digital sales than The Witcher 3
During the quarterly call to investors, the studio’s administrative and finance director revealed some details regarding the sale of Cyberpunk 2077.
We therefore learn that Piotr Nielubowicz expects a percentage of digital sales of more than 50% for the next production.
How far will we go Honestly, we don’t know, definitely further than what we had on The Witcher 3 […] More than 50% (of sales) should be digital
.
We can therefore already conclude that the dematerialized versions have achieved some success.
Whether physical or digital, the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out 10th of December on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC. So the wait is over as we will soon be able to get our hands on the new work from the famous studio.
