Apple buys rights to documentary on ‘The Velvet Underground’

Directed by renowned filmmaker Todd Haynes (director of the ‘I’m Not There’ biopic on Bob Dylan), “The Velvet Underground” shows how the group has become a cultural touchstone representing a series of contradictions: the group is from its time, but timeless; literary but realistic; rooted in high art and street culture.

It’s a documentary that must be seen, not only because of what The Velvet Underground stood for, but because brings us a moment in the history of music, the 60s when art was able to combine various disciplines. It is not yet known when the documentary will be released, but it is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2021.
