Orange’s 5G will reach 93 cities in Europe before year-end

In September Orange started with the deployment of its 5G network in Europe, with its launch in the country’s largest cities. Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Seville and Malaga have become the first to have access to it, although the operator has already confirmed that before the end of this year it will be available in more cities.

There are currently a total of 45 cities in Europe, those who can take advantage of Orange’s NSA 5G. Cities like Pamplona, ​​Logroño or Zaragoza have been added to those already mentioned above during these months. In addition, a few more will be added before the end of this month.

Orange’s 5G in 93 cities

As Orange itself announced, by the end of 2020, will be a total of 93 cities in Europe those who will have access to their 5G network. Thanks to this, the operator’s customers will be able to browse at a higher speed than with 4G. This way they can get the most out of their data rates with the operator.

It is also mentioned that the process has already started, so these cities will have access to this new standard. Although they have indicated the number of cities and it unfolds between them, we don’t know which cities are in which the operator is currently deploying 5G. In the coverage map on its website, these cities are also not being rated.

5G is thus continuing its advance in Europe, with a presence in the main cities. Orange followed in Movistar’s footsteps in September with the deployment of its network in several cities. The operator has 16 mobile customers in Europe, so a good percentage of them will be able to use the new standard before the end of the year.

Deployment takes place in phases, because in the first place, the operator used two different technologies to provide 5G NSA to its customers in 2020. The NSA itself (not standalone) was used in these nodes with 3.5 GHz antennas and also 5G NSA DSS (dynamic spectrum sharing), which allows 4G LTE and 5G to coexist on the same band. In the first quarter of 2021, the auction of 700 MHz of radio spectrum will take place, marking the start of 5G SA, which will improve indoor coverage.
