SEGA Sammy, the parent company that owns Sega and other affiliates disclosed in its annual report for this year 2020 that the series Yakuza reached the 14 million sales in its history. Most surprisingly, they also claim that the series had a exceptional reception among players from outside the country. Something very remarkable being a game with very Japanese touches and foreign to westerners. Despite this, Sega continues to classify it as a niche series aimed at a very specific sector of players.
Sega’s new bet, after the recent launch of Yakuza: like a dragon it appears to be the launch on the PC platform and other services. This is so because it has generated juicy profits in the form of sales. We will see if this policy is required on a regular basis during the next launches of the company.
We don’t know if Yakuza 3, 4, 5 and 6, will reach other platforms such as PC or Xbox in the near future and eventually cease to be exclusive to the Sony console. Ryu ga Gotoku Studio responsible for games, will perform a live broadcast December 8 on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the saga. There may be announcements of “future developments” as well as more information about launching the above on other platforms.. We will be very attentive to this saga, which conquered us with its spontaneity and its sense of humor. Remember that you have Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami for free on Game Pass.
