BBVA and Xiaomi have signed an agreement to have the company’s phones come with the BBVA app preinstalled. For now, the plan is for Europe and Mexico, although it is expected that the agreement is extended to BBVA subsidiaries in other regions of the world, therefore the scope ambition is global.
With the application will come a mobile insurance in collaboration with Allianz, exclusively for customers purchasing new Xiaomi devices, with a monthly payment that starts at 2.99 dollars and can be contracted digitally.

With the aim, according to BBVA, to reach a “particularly young” audience, the Spanish Bank signs an agreement with Xiaomi so that its application is preinstalled on the new Xiaomi mobiles. The agreement starts in Europe and Mexico, expected to expand globally in the other BBVA subsidiaries.

As BBVA explains to El País, “this will eliminate complications for those who are already our customers, but above all it will allow us to reach new customers”. Currently, Xiaomi is the third largest manufacturer in the world, leading the ranking in Europe ahead of Huawei and Samsung. From the bank, they indicate that BBVA’s share of Xiaomi mobile customers is “below normal in the market”, thus seeking an additional boost with this offer.
Current Xiaomi phones they will also receive this application, because thanks to an OTA update, it will reach all users. In case the user does not want it, it can be uninstalled without any problem.
In addition to this, it will also be offered to new Xiaomi mobile customers mobile insurance in collaboration with Allianz. It will start from 2.99 dollars and be digitally contracted with an annual policy. This insurance will be available towards the end of this month of December.
