Project Athia Will Remain a PS5 and PC Exclusive For Two Years According to the PS5 Trailer

In the latest PS5 trailer showcasing both upcoming and new games, Project Athia being developed under one of Square Enix’s studios was featured. At the bottom of screen in the video there is a small detail sharing that the game won’t be on any other console apart from PS5 for at least 24 months. This timed-exclusive deal between Square Enix and Sony is a big one, but this isn’t the only one between them. Currently both Final Fantasy XVI and the Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 also have exclusivity deals.

The mysterious new project from Square, Project Athia is described as a story-driven open-world action adventure, set in a fantasy world. Players will have their own unique abilities to battle against monsters and foes. From what has been shown, you take on the role of Athia, a young woman who is quick on her feet and has some ranged abilities.

Not much other information has been released about the game so far, but we do know it’s being developed by Luminous Productions, who has previously worked on Final Fantasy XV with its main studio. Project Athia was first revealed during one of the first PS5 showcases.

Project athia has yet to have a release window, but we’ll keep an eye on this one throughout 2021 as maybe Square Enix will be ready to tell us more by then.
