The Facebook Messenger is down. If you use Facebook Messenger on your desktop PC, you can write and send messages, but they will not be delivered. Instead, the chat window only says in red: “Connection is being established …”
Same game in the mobile app. A message sent here remains in a waiting loop and you only see the messages “Sending …” or “Loading …”.
Users report problems worldwide
The problem is not limited to Germany, as a look at Twitter shows. For example, users in India also report similar problems.
In addition to Facebook Messenger, that is also fighting Instagram photo network, also belonging to Facebook, with similar problems. Facebook recently linked Facebook Messenger and Instagram’s chat function called Direct. The WhatsApp Messenger, which also belongs to Facebook, currently works without a problem.

Facebook itself has now commented on the disruption to Netzwelt’s request. The social network did not give a reason, but promised to solve the problem as quickly as possible. You can find the full statement below:
