In recent years, Samsung has chosen to create a smart assistant that positions itself as an alternative to Alexa and the Google Assistant. Bixby is still present not only in the company’s phones, but also in tablets and even in home appliances.
In the latest update to this app, Bixby has become easier and more comfortable to use, in addition to being more user-friendly in DeX. This new version, which we were able to test a few weeks ago, has already reached users in Europe.
Bixby has a new, cleaner and simpler interface
The first of the novelties is a new interface, very different from the one we had so far on mobile phones. Instead of a single column with a selector at the top, we have a section with a hamburger menu at the top left.
In the normal section we can access the Marketplace, a kind of store for Bixby compatible programs.
Finally, within this interface stands out the new window that appears when we activate Bixby, which no longer occupies the entire screen of the phone, but only the lower third, which we have already seen in Siri and in the google assistant.
Custom order suggestions
In addition, in this new interface we have a section that recommends new voice commands that we may find useful.
These recommendations are based on the apps we have installed, the age of each user, or the devices we use Bixby on. It will also recommend some very popular commands.
Integration with Samsung DeX
The latest news focuses on the use of the assistant with DeX, the desktop interface that Samsung mobiles have when they are connected to a television or monitor.
We can now use Bixby to open apps or perform searches, the same way we do on mobile.
