Get ready to relax in Dragonspine – iGamesNews

Dragonspine, igamesnews, ready, Relax

Hello travelers! The Genshin Impact dev team here, eager to share with you some information about Dragonspine, our first map addition which will arrive on December 23. Dragonspine is a frozen mountain range in southern Mondstadt that few dare to step foot in. As one of Teyvat’s most inhospitable areas, exploring Dragonspine won’t be a walk in the park. To help travelers prepare for this all-new experience, we’ve put together a few tips you may want to take note of.

All travelers will be able to explore a whole new immersive environment full of new creatures, mysteries, treasures and dangers to discover. Whether you choose to explore the region with the alchemical genius of Mondstadt, Albedo at the upcoming seasonal event, explore the mountain on your own and discover every square inch of the mountains and the secrets they hold, or simply to hone your survival skills in this beautiful yet brutal environment, Dragonspine has something to offer every intrepid explorer.

A glance at this world of ice

Covered in snow year-round, Dragonspine finds itself in a constant state of cold and gloom – in stark contrast to the other surroundings of Mondstadt and Liyue.

Dragonspine stands like a frozen fortress, giving most living things little to survive. However, there are still some unique and miraculous species to be found here. The Hilichurls who managed to survive on the mountain saw their looks and lives shaped by the brutal environment.

But on closer inspection, the creatures that now live here don’t seem to be the original inhabitants of this mysterious landscape. Deep in the mountains lie the traces of an ancient lost civilization, waiting to be discovered.

Survive the extreme cold

Nothing is easy at high altitudes and extremely low temperatures. Before focusing on loot and treasure, all of Dragonspine’s travelers must first make an effort to survive. Along with your HP and stamina, you’ll need to pay special attention to Sheer Cold while fighting, exploring, or even standing still.

The Sheer Cold bar immediately appears above your HP bar once you enter the Dragonspine area. Sheer Cold will increase if you are exposed to the cold without any heat source, and once the bar is full you will start to lose your health. Unless you find a little warmth to ward off the sheer cold, it will ultimately lead to your death.

Therefore, the constant search for a heat source quickly becomes your main task as you walk through this snowy landscape. Waypoints, lighted torches and pots, and even the Seelie in Dragonspine can all serve as heat sources on your way. You can also mine Scarlet Quartz, a common find in Dragonspine, to temporarily combat Sheer Cold. Additionally, once you progress through Dragonspine, you can unlock a new recipe to create a temporary portable heat source. Remember: only with enough heat can you continue your adventure in Dragonspine!

Discover the secrets under the snow

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Despite the inhospitable cold and danger lurking around every corner, Dragonspine offers generous rewards to those who manage to explore the depths of the mountain and conquer its highest peak.

To reach the top of Dragonspine, travelers must first open strange air currents blocking the path. Meanwhile, buried deep in the mountains lies a long-lost ancient civilization, with only stone slabs, tablets, and relics to tell the story of its glory and downfall. The most curious and observant travelers will be able to trigger a series of hidden quests, gather the clues, uncover the hidden truth and claim a new 4-star Claymore Snow-Tombed Starsilver.

The mountain is also home to some very special ingredients, minerals, recipes, artifacts, and weapons not found anywhere else, some of which will definitely come in handy. For example, Travelers may randomly encounter Dragon Teeth, which can be forged into the Dragon Thorn Lance by the Weaponsmith at Camp in the Foothills.

While exploring Dragonspine, travelers can also find small fragments of a material called Crimson Agate. Collect them and gift them to the Frostbearer Tree to claim useful combat and exploration rewards, including crafting recipes for the Portable Hot Bottle and the new 4-Star Frostbearer Catalyst.

Exciting seasonal event

The next “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon” winter event will take place in the new Dragonspine region. All travelers of adventure level 20 or above will be able to participate in this new event.

In the event storyline, you’ll help the new 5-star character Albedo, alchemist leader and captain of the Knights of Favonius investigative team in Mondstadt, investigate Dragonspine and a mysterious and mighty sword called the Festering Desire. Travelers who complete the storyline quests will be able to keep and use Festering Desire in their future adventures. By completing additional Event Tasks and exchanging relevant items in the Event Shop, players can even elevate Festering Desire to its maximum level of refinement!

Hope these tips will help you on your Dragonspine adventures! There’s still a lot going on in version 1.2, and we don’t want to spoil all the surprises. Want to know more? Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and the Genshin Impact forums.

May you survive and prosper during the winter in Dragonspine, travelers!
