Once upon a time Adobe Flash was everywhere – on web pages, in presentations, in apps and in games. But due to security concerns, and after the arrival of HTML5, Flash has ceased to shine and will now rest forever.
Last June, a malware for macOS disguised as Flash Player has started to creep up in Google search results.
On December 31, we will not only say goodbye to the year of the pandemic, but we will also say goodbye to Flash. On that day, Adobe will stop distributing and updating Flash Player.
Adobe announced its intention to stop Flash in July 2017, and justified its decision by thinking about open standards such as HTML5, WebGL, and Web Assembly, which have been developed in recent years and are a good alternative to Flash content.
Web browsers have also incorporated these standards and have disabled most of the plug-ins (like Adobe Flash Player).
Adobe said it will continue to regularly release security patches for Flash Player and ensure compatibility with all operating systems and web browsers, but as of the early morning hours of December 31, 2020, Adobe will remove all download links .
Adobe will remove Flash Player download pages from your website and prevent Flash content from being viewed with Adobe Flash Player.
Adobe recommends that you use only the most recent version of your Software. Users should not use Flash Player after discontinuing the product, as Adobe will no longer support the program.
Additionally, users should not use any unauthorized version of Flash Player offered on other websites after December 31, 2020. Adobe is not responsible for their use.
After being discontinued on December 31, 2020, Adobe will no longer be offering updates or security fixes for Flash Player. Therefore, Adobe recommends that all users uninstall Flash Player.
All Flash content will be blocked after the product is discontinued. Business users should also be aware that they will receive updates to Adobe AIR and HARMAN Flash Player for at least three years.
