Aerial captures in Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores are similar to Vista Points in the main game. Aerial captures can only be accessed by following a path while using a flying mount, but first you need to find the emitters that will activate the start of each path.
In Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores, aerial shots give you additional context for the story you uncovered. In particular, these aerial shots give better context to what happened around the Burning Shores in the time leading up to the end of the world.
Without further ado, we’ll show you all Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores aerial capture locations and we explain completion rewards to do it.

West Aerial Capture Location at Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores
THE first aerial capture location at Horizon Forbidden West can be found on the west side of the map. We have marked its location on the map below:
However, when you get to this area, you will notice that it is bombarded by lightning and a strong storm surrounds it. This storm makes it nearly impossible to land on the island as lightning will be drawn in and strike your mount.
To stop the storm, use your flying mount to hover near or over the island And then scan the island with your Focus. Look around you until your Focus detects a lead leading to the sky.
Follow this path until you spot the faulty Stormbird. He will briefly walk away from you and leave you with another trail to follow. You will need to follow this pattern several times until the Stormbird notices you.
Once the Stormbird notices you, it will launch you out of the sky and back down to the island. You’ll lose your flying mount here, but that doesn’t matter for now as the Stormbird will descend on the island and start attacking you.
Tips for fighting the Stormbird
This Stormbird is fierce, but here are some tips to help you defeat it quickly:
- It is weak to acid and plasma damage – Using any weapon or ammo with these elemental effects will weaken the machine, making it easier to attack.
- Aim for the weak spot in his chest – When scanning the Stormbird, a weak point should be highlighted in the middle of its chest. Keep attacking it to destroy it or use tear arrows to remove it. Removing it will stop some of its deadliest lightning-based attacks.
- Do not use traps or tripwires – While these traps can be useful for other machines, Stormbirds mostly attack from the air, so you’ll waste valuable resources.
- Ranged attack – If you approach the Stormbird, it will launch a deafening sonic attack that will stun Aloy and leave her vulnerable. Also, it’s much easier to anticipate what attack the machine will do next if you stand farther away.
- keep moving – There is an attack where the Stormbird will fly into the clouds and disappear. When this happens, keep moving, dipping, and rolling out of the way. Don’t stay in one place or the Stormbird will come crashing into you and crush you.
- To use This armed – If you’ve completed the DLC’s “Stars in Their Eyes” main quest, you’ll gain access to a weapon that will greatly damage the Stormbird, especially if it feels all of the effects of acid damage.
Once the Stormbird is down, the island can be safely explored. Don’t forget to loot the machine too! It carries quite useful and rare resources.
Find the origin of the signal
Use your Focus to sweep the island and you should see a signal from a small building. Head to the building and open the doors. Once inside, the second best The transmitter will be on your left.
Interact with the sender then go back outside.
Start flight path
The transmitter will have activated the flight path near the island. The quest marker (if you’ve been following the Air Capture: West quest) will appear to show you where it is.
You will need another flying mount to do this, but luckily there is a Waterwing site nearby.
Once you have your flying mount, head to the start of the path. It should look like this:
Fly through the circle to start the path then follow it by flying as close to the path as possible. If you stray too far out of the way, Aloy will let you know.
During your flight, you will need to go through the green audio points on the way that mark each section. These will automatically play as you fly and give you a glimpse of the end of the world being told through another person’s perspective.
Keep flying and following the path until you reach the end of it. When you are at the last circle, press R3 to trigger air capture point.
Aerial capture Northwest location at Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores
After the excitement of the last Air Capture point, this one is rather relaxed. Aerial Capture: Northwest can be found almost directly north of the end of the fleet And slightly south of Heaven’s Rest. It’s on a small island, near a Widemaw site. We have marked its exact location on the map below:
The transmitter for this aerial capture point is hidden behind a grate near the top of the tall building on the island.
Use your flying mount to move to the side of the large building with the grate on it. This is much easier to locate if you fully activate your Focus and scan the building for the signal. Then when you find it, fly near the Grid and use guest control to ask your mount to rip it off.
Then all you have to do is jump off your mount and into the opening. The transmitter will be the only thing in this opening. Interact with him to trigger Air Capture starting point: Northwest.
Use your flying mount to follow the quest marker back to the starting point and follow the path as you did before to find the Air Capture.

Aerial capture: Northeast’s transmitter can be found slightly northeast of Fleet’s End And slightly south of Aerial Capture: North. We’ve marked its location below:
When you get to the area we’ve marked on the map, use your Focus to scan the area until you see the signal. This should lead inside a ruined building where you will find the transmitter sitting on an old ledge.
As you did with the rest, activate the transmitter, use your flying mount to start the flight path and follow it until you reach the air capture point.
East Aerial Capture location at Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores
The transmitter for Aerial Capture: East is located slightly north of Cauldron THETA. We have marked its location on the map below:
THE the transmitter is balanced on the edge of the remains of an old house. Approach and interact with it to activate the start of the flight path.
As before, follow the flight path and collect the audio logs to reach the aerial capture.
