Best Nekomata Build
We have more detailed explanations and alternative choices below, but at a glance, here’s what we consider to be the best Nekomata build in Zenless Zone Zero:
- Best weapon:S Rank Steel Cushion.
- Best Training Disc Set:4 Fanged Metal pieces and 2 Woodpecker Electro pieces.
- Best team:Piper and Nicole.
How to play Nekomata
True to her feline nature, Nekomata is a very fast attacker whose damage increases by 30% for six seconds when you use a counter-dodge or a quick assist. This means that your goal with Nekomata is to Use Dodge Counter and Quick Assist as often as possible
Quick Assist occurs when a support character performs a move (such as Nicole’s EX Special Attack) that causes the next character’s image to flash in the lower-right corner of the screen.
As long as you have another Physical or Cunning Hares teammate, you should also aim to apply the Assault effect on enemies with another Physical character as often as possible, so that Nekomata’s EX Special Attack receives a buff the next time she uses it.
Aside from these two techniques, it’s also worth noting that Nekomata has a 33.33% chance to repeat her attacks and deal even more damage on the fifth hit by pressing the basic attack button, or after holding the basic attack button for the first three hits of her basic attack. So, don’t forget Complete your basic attack combo completely if you want the chance to deal even more damage with Nekomata.
Nekomata’s Best Teams
Nekomata’s best team is with Piper and Nicoleas she gets a physical buff with Piper and a Cunning Hares faction buff with Nicole. Piper is also a great choice for her quick application of Assault on enemies, which you need to do to trigger Nekomata’s additional basic passive skill that increases the damage of Nekomata’s next EX Special attack, which stacks twice.
If you don’t have Piper or Nicole (or don’t want to use them), there are alternative choices, but Nekomata doesn’t have as many support options to choose from as other attack characters, unfortunately. Anby can be used for its stun abilities while activating the Cunning Hares faction boost, but Bowl is a more difficult member to integrate, as he is also an attacker. However, if you don’t have Piper, he is a decent alternative for an assault application.
Finally, keep in mind that using a support that uses a move that activates Quick Assist is almost an essential squad mate for Nekomata. So if you’re not using Nicole for this, then characters like Soukaku
Best Nekomata Hard Drives
Nekomata can actually use many sets of player discs, but overall we think the 4-piece fang metal is the best Driving Disc set for Nekomata in Zenless Zone Zero as long as you can consistently and quickly trigger Assault (with another character, such as Piper). Its 2-piece set increases physical damage, and its 4-piece set increases Nekomata’s damage even more when a squad member inflicts Assault on an enemy.
If you can’t quickly trigger the assault with another character, then you will need to equip Nekomata with the 4-piece Electro Puffer Or Electro Peak instead. The 2-piece Electro Puffer increases Nekomata’s penetration ratio, while the 4-piece increases her ultimate damage and increases her attack for 12 seconds after using her ultimate.
Woodpecker Electro’s 2-piece increases Nekomata’s critical rate, and its 4-piece increases its attack for six seconds when Nekomata lands a critical hit with its basic attack, counter-dodge, or EX special attack.
Your duo can be either Fanged Metal, Puffer Electro, Woodpecker Electro, or Hormone Punk – depending on what you already have as a quartet and what has the best sub-stats.
Nekomata’s Best Weapons
We believe that the S rank Steel cushion is Nekomata’s best weapon in Zenless Zone Zero as it increases her critical rate and physical damage, and can further increase Nekomata’s damage output when attacking an enemy from behind. As she is a very fast character, this is not a difficult stance for Nekomata to adopt, allowing her to take full advantage of Steel Cushion’s benefits.
You can also use Sulfur as an alternative to the S-rank W-Engine on Nekomata for its passive attack boost and a stacking increase to his attack when Nekomata uses a basic attack, sprint attack, or counter-dodge.
For Tier A weapon options, we recommend Starlight Engine for her large boost to Nekomata’s attack when she uses a counter-dodge or quick assist, and Street Superstar if your team does a lot of chain attacks and you focus on triggering Nekomata’s ultimate.
As long as Nekomata’s critical rate is relatively high, you can also use Cannon Rotoras it passively increases Nekomata’s attack and critical rate, while also increasing his damage when he lands a critical hit.
While waiting to get one of these options, you can also use Rank B Lunar Plenilunawhich increases Nekomata’s damage when she uses her basic attack, quick attack, or counter-dodge. Or, the Moon waning to increase Nekomata’s damage after performing a chain attack.
