Hey! Listen! While we’ve done our best to avoid major plot reveals, this guide contains minor information. spoilers!

All Zelda locations during the Crisis at Hyrule Castle in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Once you arrive at Hyrule Castle in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Crisis at Hyrule Castle main quest, you’ll need to scour the ruined castle to find Zelda in seven different locations.

Zelda will call you when you first arrive at Hyrule Castle and her current location will appear on the map. When you visit this location you will be ambushed by a collection of monsters and in order for the next location to reveal you need to defeat these monsters.

Below we explain seven Zelda locations in Crisis at Hyrule Castle and how to reach them. It’s important to note that our starting location was outside of the Sanctum, and while you don’t have to start there, Zelda will follow the location order we’ve laid out below.

If you start your journey around the castle outside of the Sanctuary, we recommend grabbing the Champion Leathers while you’re there. This piece of armor starts with a defense of 5, so if you haven’t collected and upgraded your armor, it can be useful during the monster battle in this quest.

Zelda location 1 – Second Gatehouse on B1

Zelda is first found on level B1 of the Second Gatehouse.

The second gatehouse is to the southeast of the shrine, so all you have to do is follow the path down from this room, avoiding the darkness, and slide down when you’re in front of it. Now all you have to do is go down to where Zelda is standing.

Surprise! It’s not really Zelda but a Black Boss Bokoblin and some Black Bokoblins. You must defeat them to continue this quest, and since it is a closed area, we recommend using Sage’s Wish, especially Riju’s Wish, to defeat them.

Once the monsters have been defeated, you can also open a chest to find a Royal Halberd.

Zelda 2 Location – Library on B3

The next Zelda location is in the library on level B3 of Hyrule Castle.

The library is north of the second gatehouse, so exit through the door on the right and jump across the river. Then you need to climb the cliff and enter the tower. Inside you’ll find arrows, a soldier’s bow, and a chest containing a royal shield.

Now you need to climb the ladder inside the tower and, after jumping to the other side of the wall, head north. There will be a few blue lizalfos in this area, which you can either avoid or defeat.

Cross this road.

As you cross the road, you’ll come to a cliff from where you can see the Serutabomac Shrine, which you should unlock if you haven’t already, and some Black Moblins. You will also be able to distinguish a roof in a roof section along the cliff.

Go to this cliff.

What you need to do now is paraglider to this hole and drop into it to reach the library.

Head into Zelda and you’ll come across a Black Hinox, as well as a Fire Chuchu, Ice Chuchu, and Electric Chuchu. We recommend removing the Chuchu first to make it easier to run around the Hinox. You can also use Ascend to reach the balcony to avoid some of the Hinox, but it will throw explosive barrels at you when you’re there.

Once the monsters are defeated, it’s time to find Zelda. Still, before you go, it’s worth using Ultrahand to move the fake library under the northern stars and visit the King’s Study. Inside you’ll find a Royal Shield, a Royal Broadsword, and a chest containing the Royal Guard Boots.

Zelda Location 3 – Staircase north of the library on B3

The next Zelda location isn’t far from the library, and to get there you just need to go up the stairs at the north end of the room before following the hallway.

The third Zelda location in Hyrule Castle.

This time the forces you will face will be four Gibdo and one Gibdo Moth. Since you’ll be fighting them in a small space, we recommend using Riju’s Wish, obtained by completing the Temple of Lightning, to make it easier to destroy these monsters. Also keep in mind that some of the Gibdos will be hiding on the stairs, so don’t get sneaky attacked!

Zelda 4 Location – Princess Zelda’s Bedroom on B1

Now you need to visit Princess Zelda’s bedroom, which is on the west side on level B1 of Hyrule Castle.

The fourth Zelda location in Hyrule Castle.

To get there, keep going up the stairs and follow the path it takes you to. This path will take you around the castle, but it involves going through a tunnel filled with Horriblins of different colors.

If you want to avoid this tunnel, you can use the paraglider to fly around the tunnel and land on a section of land on the other side. Taking this route, however, will require you to climb back up to the trail. There is also a Like Like hanging from an arch in this area!

Slide to the ledge you can see in this screenshot if you want to avoid the Horriblin tunnel.

Whichever route you take, after the tunnel you’ll come to a section of the castle where you’ll see an Ice Like hanging from an archway, with a Blue Lizalfos and a Black Moblin standing on the wall above. You can ignore the Ice Like for now, but you’ll need to defeat the two monsters on the wall before you have to get past them to reach Zelda.

Once the monsters are defeated, go up the stairs near where the Blue Lizalfos once stood, then, possibly defeating another Lizalfos on the way, go up the next stair.

When you reach the top, use Ascend before going through the hole in the ground to where Zelda is. This will lead you to face three Fire-Breath Lizalfos. Luckily, they can be easily defeated using ice-based attacks, such as fusing a White Chuchu Jelly with an arrow.

Zelda Location 5 – Western Room on B3

Zelda will now be waiting in a room below her bedroom on level B3 of the castle.

The fifth Zelda location in Hyrule Castle.

The fastest way to reach this room is through the hole in the wall of Zelda’s room and from there use the paraglider to fly up to the correct level. It’s worth placing a Travel Medallion if you have one, so if you make a mistake you can quickly return to this point in the castle.

Jump off that balcony…

The door you are looking for is under the tower, which is almost parallel to Zelda’s room at the western end of Hyrule Castle.

and slide to this door.

Once in the room containing Zelda, you will need to defeat a Silver Moblin and some Ice Keese.

Zelda location 6 – Southwest room on B3

While Zelda is still at level B3 of Hyrule Castle and southeast of your current location, you cannot go directly to the room she is in.

Zelda’s sixth location in Hyrule Castle.

Instead, use Ascend to leave the area you’re currently in to find yourself near the ice cream you skipped on your way to Zelda’s fourth location. This time, however, you must kill this monster.

After that, keep moving forward until you find a staircase at the base of a ruined tower on your right. Now all you have to do is go down the stairs and head down the left hallway you’ll find downstairs.

Go down the stairs and then go left.

Zelda will once again disappear, and this time you’ll have to defeat three Shock Likes.

Zelda location 7 – Sanctum at 1F

Now it’s time to return to the beginning of our journey around Hyrule Castle – the Sanctum.

The seventh Zelda location in Hyrule Castle.

To reach it, we recommend going back up the stairs rather than just using Ascend as it can leave you in a puddle of Gloom. You can, however, use Ascend once you’re at the top of the stairs before climbing one of the uncovered Gloom sections of the cliff to your east. Depending on the monsters you’ve defeated previously and the blood moon, you may need to defeat a blue lizard.

Use Ascend here.

At the top of this wall, climb the next wall to find yourself outside the Sanctum. Before heading inside, we recommend making sure you’re at full health, as well as gathering powerful weapons and good meals if you don’t already have them. It’s also a good idea to activate all of your sage wishes, as they will help distract you from you in the upcoming fight and allow you to access their abilities. You may also want to increase your attack and defense.

When you’re ready, head to the Sanctum and you’ll soon find yourself facing 10 Phantom Ganon in total. If you’ve never faced this monster before, we recommend that you quickly read our guide to defeating Phantom Ganon.

The first round of five Phantom Ganon will all use swords, and once you defeat them, another five Phantom Ganon will spawn. This next series of ghosts will go through all of their possible weapons, ranging from swords to clubs to spears.

During this part of the fight, one of the Phantom Ganon will occasionally start spreading Gloom on the battlefield. If you don’t stop this, you can easily find yourself surrounded by dangerous Gloom and cornered by Phantom Ganons.

Hit Ganon’s ghosts spreading darkness to ward them off.

Luckily, you can easily stop this by triple tapping Gloom’s spread ghost. The easiest way to do this is with arrows, since you won’t have to enter the Gloom. The Phantom Ganon will also be stunned for a few seconds after, allowing you to land good hits.

After defeating all of the Ghost Ganons and watching the cutscene, collect the Heart Container if desired before returning to Lookout Landing to speak to Purah.

The Crisis at Hyrule Castle will now technically be over, but in order for it to be checked off your quest list, you’ll need to find the fifth wise man first. This involves completing the Find the Fifth Sage and Secret of the Ring Ruins main quests, as well as visiting the Spirit Temple.

If you’ve already found the Fifth Sage, you’ll get a rather amusing cutscene and can then fight Ganondorf. Although, you might also want to continue exploring Hyrule, and if so, check out our Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom walkthrough.
