Something stirs under the seas of methane in Destiny 2so strange Hive Statues seem in the depths seem to beckon Broken Blades during the Season of the Deep.
This has all the makings of a Destiny 2 filled secret quest, as each week more and more Broken Blades can be found. Whether that leads to unlocking any of the upcoming Exotic weapons like Wicked Implement remains to be seen.
What is clear is that completing Shattered Blades can take a bit of time, so it’s best to start early.

What are Broken Blades in Destiny 2?
Broken Blades in Destiny 2 are a strange hive of artifacts that are earned by fishing and depositing exotic fish in the Aquarium. Each exotic fish is tied to a different blade, and each blade has a corresponding statue hidden in the Deep Dive event where they must be dropped.
At first, only one exotic fish was available to catch, but a second has now been added to the mix. It is likely that up to two more exotic fish will be added, one in each of the coming weeks.
You will need visit each of the fishing ponds, and keep catching fish until you come up with one of the exotic fish. Which fish is hooked is purely down to luck, but, as we detail in our comprehensive fishing guide, building your Target Fishing meter will increase the chance of the rarest Legendary and Exotic fish appearing.
Once you’ve caught your fish, you’ll need to visit the Aquarium and drop them off. Once you have done this, the corresponding broken blade will be added to the fishing tackle box in your inven tory.
How to Earn the Broken Blade of Discord and Hive Statue Location in Destiny 2
The first blade is the broken blade of struggle. This is earned by depositing the Whispering Mothcarp exotic fish at the HELM
The Whispering Mothcarp can be found in the Throne World of Savathun. Open the regional map to find the pond and settle there.
How long it takes will mostly depend on luck, so best to set aside time and bring plenty of bait. Eventually you will see the shiny gold fish come out. Collect it and head to the HELM Drop it at the Aquarium and the Broken Blade of Discord will be added to your fishing gear.
Now open the HELM menu and start a deep dive. The statue for this is in the first deep dive area. Drop down through the trapdoor into the depths and keep to the right once you get to the first area with plants 750m away. Hug the wall to your right and look for a small opening and a path. This is the same area as the twilight plant in our guide to aquarium decorations.
Shortly before reaching the factory, there will be a pit. Look down and to the right to find the statue.
Approach and offer the Broken Blade of Grudge.
How to Earn the Broken Blade of Ambition and Hive Statue Location in Destiny 2
The search for the Broken Blade of Ambition begins on Nessus. Locate the fishing pond and cast your line. This time you are looking for an Exotic Fish Vexing Placoderm. Fishing is all about patience, so sit back and catch fish until you get the one you need.
Once you catch the Placoderm, take it to HELM and add it to your collection. The broken blade of ambition will be yours and stored safely in your fishing gear.
Start the deep dive from the HELM This time you head to the first enemy encounter area, after the initial dive. When you enter the room, look straight ahead at the doors that roughly divide the area in two. On the other side of this door, up and to the left is a balcony and a locked door.
Once you defeat the enemies and clear the objectives in this space, this door will open. Visit the statue before continuing (or before your teammates shoot you in front) and drop the Shattered Blade of Ambition.
What is the reward for catching all the exotic fish and returning the Shattered Blades?
Currently, it is unknown what the reward is at the end of these particular objectives. Multi-part tasks like this often have unique weapons or gear at the end, suggesting it’s part of the quest for earn the Wicked Implement exotic scout riflewhich is still not found.
What’s clear is that it’s all leading to something, and the Guardians aren’t one to leave a mystery unsolved for long.
