Type 4FR is a Legendary Linear Fusion Rifle introduced during the Season of Plunder in Destiny 2and quickly established itself as an indispensable weapon for killing bosses.

This is a powerful and highly customizable weapon, and one of the best options for dealing massive damage per second (DPS) to bosses in Destiny 2.

This guide will detail how to get Taipan 4FRand the best Taipan 4FR god rolls to chase.

How to get the Taipan 4FR in Destiny 2

Taipan 4FR is available as part of the standard Destiny 2 loot pool. This means that any activity that can reward random legendary weaponssuch as Strikes, Lost Sectors, and Crucible matches, all have a chance of getting this Linear Fusion Rifle, with a random assortment of perks.

Taipan 4FR is also available as a quest reward. Even better, completing the associated quest allows you to make the gungiving you control over what perks to equip.

There are pros and cons to both approaches – while crafting gets you the perks you want, you need to upgrade the crafted weapon first before it’s available.

You can, of course, get a “god roll” (essentially the best perks to get the most out of the weapon) from a random drop to save yourself the effort of crafting and upgrading – but the chances of that happening are slim.

Explanation of Taipan 4FR quests on foundry resonance and foundry shaping

To get the Taipan 4FR this way, visit the Enclave Relic. This will launch the Resonance Foundry quest.

Completing this is simple and straightforward, and there are only a few steps:

Acquire the Deepsight AMMIT AR2 weapon and use it in all combat activities.
Complete activities in the Vanguard, Crucible, or Gambit playlists while defeating combatants equipped with a Deepsight Resonance weapon.
Complete a Deepsight Resonance weapon objective and mine resonant items.
Return to the relic in the enclave on Mars.

To clarify the above – you need to complete two Deepsight weapons (those advancements with kills and activity completions) in the second and third stages, and it can be any weapon you like – it’s not necessary that it is the AMMIT AR2 that you received.

Once this last step is completed, a Deepsight Taipan 4FR will be deposited in your inventory. This will start you on another quest called Forming in foundrywith the following steps:

Acquire the Deepsight Resonance Taipan 4FR weapon and use it to defeat fighters and complete activities to complete your goal.
Complete an offensive activity such as Dares of Eternity or Wellspring with your Deepsight weapon equipped.
Complete a Deepsight Resonance weapon objective and mine resonant items.
Return to the relic in the enclave on Mars.

At this point, you’ll get the Taipan 4FR model, allowing you to craft the gun whenever you want. The remaining steps of the Foundary Shaping questline just tell you how to use the relic to shape weapons – you need to reshape the AMMIT AR2 or the Taipan 4FR, of which we recommend the latter.

Taipan 4FR can drop many different activities and has a number of varieties of advantages that will be randomly assigned. Each version of the gun will carry the original trait Veist’s Stinger. With this, dealing damage to enemies has a chance to reload the magazine and increase movement speed while aiming.

An ideal version of the weapon, or “god roll”, will focus on what it does best: high single-target damage. A Taipan 4FR godroll can be found randomly, or deliberately crafted, it’s all a matter of having the right perks equipped.

Our Taipan 4FR god roll recommendation is as follows:

Arrowhead (Weapon level 7 when crafted)
Improved battery (Unlocked automatically when crafted)
Triple tap (Weapon level 8 when crafted; Upgraded is level 15)
line of fire (Weapon level 10 when crafted; Upgraded is level 17)

Linear Fusion Rifles are all about landing precision shots. Arrowhead brake Significantly reduces recoil, which is essential for hitting the same weak spot repeatedly.

Improved battery simply adds an additional photo to the magazine. Reload time is often limited in boss fights, and being able to fire an extra shot is a huge advantage.

Triple tap loads a round into your weapon after three consecutive precision hits. Proper use of Taipan 4FR will activate it frequently, allowing you to continue dealing damage while regenerating a small amount of ammo.

line of fire is oriented towards group activities, such as Raids. It grants a 20% bonus to damage while standing near two or more allies. It’s a massive boost that only requires being near your squad to activate.

These perks can all be found, but crafting your Taipan 4FR allows you to activate the Improved versions of Triple Tap and Firing Line.

Improved Triple Tap increases the amount of time that can elapse between your precision hits, giving you more leeway to utilize its ammo refund ability.
