Dawn of Destiny 2 sees the return of the game’s annual holiday event.
As in previous years, it revolves around baked cookie recipeseach requiring ingredients before you can cook them – all of which are generated by killing different things with specific methods.
Creating different recipes is part of several questlines, including the Cookie Delivery Helper quest, which can help you improve your oven.
Note that The Dawning runs from December 13, 2022 to January 3, 2023 – starting and ending at the usual weekly reset time.

It’s December, which means The Dawning and Moments of Triumph 2022 return! Elsewhere, Season of the Seraph is here alongside More Than a Weapon, Seraph Key Codes and Resonate Stems and the addition of Rose in Crucible. We also saw a new dungeon, Spire of the Watcher, with a chance of the Hierarchy of Needs dropping at the end. Everything you need to know about Destiny’s The Dawning event
All of the tables above represent pretty much everything you need to know about this year’s event. However, here is some additional information that might help:
- The main goal in 2022 (besides spreading holiday cheer) is to complete the Cookie Delivery Helper quest and check off the Dawning event map objectives.
- A secondary goal is that when you cook a recipe from each recipe, the Dawning Oven will be masterful – making future recipes cheaper to cook.
- It’s worth equipping the Dawning ship, the Starfarer 7M, for an extra Dawning Spirit during the event. If you’ve been playing in the past few years, chances are you already have it – if not, go to page three of Eva’s list to get one. Don’t forget to update it!
- There are a few recipes and cookies for vendors that aren’t always present in-game – like Xur – so masterworking and getting every Triumph will take some patience.
- As before, Burnt Edge Transit is the cookie you receive when you combine “wrong” ingredients. If it’s anything like previous years, you gotta do it before you complete each recipe, because when you master the oven, then you can’t do a Burnt Edge Transit.
- As with every Seasonal Event, there is a series of time-limited Triumphs to unlock before it ends. The vast majority of these involve creating a recipe of each type and handing it over to the respective vendor.
- Essence of Dawning drops from almost every activity in the game. However, if you want a farming method, the following Part Time Guardian video recommends completing the Legend Lost Sectors. These reward 15-17 Dawning Essence per run. You could do it solo, hoping for a sweet new Exotic, but running with a fireteam is much, much faster, as this video from Part Time Guardian shows.
- If you’re planning on doing it all in The Dawning and aren’t sure where to start with the many recipes, we recommend playing the game as you normally would and seeing which ingredients come to your lap. For example, completing bounties for other events – such as Gambit – will naturally require you to use a variety of items and weapons, and will naturally face you against a variety of opponents. Then you can figure out what items you need to complete the remaining Triumphs.
