The Big Gathering at Disney Dreamlight Valley is Simba’s second quest you get once he joins you in the valley. He wants to hold a rally at Pride Rock but he needs help setting it up. It’s there that you intervene.
As with many things in Disney Dreamlight Valley, there are several steps to complete this quest and one of them tasks you with figuring out the missing ingredient for the cake recipe. After all, is it a party without cake?

How to start The Great Gathering quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To begin The Great Gathering quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you must unlock Simba and reach friendship level four with him. You must also have Maui and Minnie living in your valley. Additionally, the requirements state that you must advance your friendship with Remy. We were level five with Remy and that allowed us to start this quest, so we don’t know what the minimum requirement is for him.
You must also complete the Hakuna Matata quest before you can access this one.
Once you’ve met all of these requirements, go talk to Simba to begin the quest.
How to make Remy’s recipes for The Great Gathering quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Simba will explain to you that he wants to hold a gathering at Pride Rock for the people of the Valley, and he will ask you to help him set everything up. First of all, any gathering needs food, so you have to go talk to Remy.
Remy will give you ideas for two recipes. He will give you the recipe for a “Large Seafood Platter”. If you don’t know it already, go to your inventory and learn the recipe, you’ll need it a bit later.
Recipe for the large seafood platter:
- x4 Seafood (can be found/fished on Dazzle Beach – we used clams and scallops.)
- x1 Lemon (Can be found in Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust.)
Then he will also give you the idea of a ‘Cake’ but he forgot an ingredient. To save you the trouble of finding out, the the missing ingredient is “sugar cane”.
Sugar cane seeds and sugarcane can be purchased at Goofy’s booth on Dazzle Beach. If you choose to grow it, it takes about 6-8 minutes in the real world to develop.
The recipe for Aurora’s Cake is as follows:
- x1 Wheat (Can be purchased at Goofy’s stall in Peaceful Meadow.)
- x1 Eggs (Can be purchased at Chez Rémy.)
- x1 Milk (Can be purchased at Chez Rémy.)
- x1 Fruit (any fruit can be used – we used a raspberry.)
- x1 Sugarcane (Can be purchased at Goofy’s booth on Dazzle Beach.)
After finding the missing ingredient (sugar cane), find a place where cook and prepare both recipes!
How to Invite Villagers to the Great Gathering at Disney Dreamlight Valley
After preparing the dishes, go back to Simba and talk to him again. Follow the conversation and choose one of the conversation options that appear, you’ll end up choosing all three so the order doesn’t really matter.
When the conversation ends, you will have to go and talk to these three villagers:
All you have to do is approach them and interact with them, you will automatically invite them to the gathering as soon as you talk to them.
Then go back to Simba and he will give you a banquet to set up. Put it where you want the celebration to be. We chose to drop it off outside Pride Rock, after all it’s Simba’s party.
When the party is in full swing, you can take a photo with the group. Make sure it’s a good one!

How to grow carrots and feed critters in The Great Gathering quest at Disney Dreamlight Valley
Once the party is over, talk to Simba then follow him. Watch the conversation with Nala take place. At the end of the conversation, talk to Simba again and you will be asked to help him catch up with Nala.
To do this, you will need to plant and grow nine carrots, then feed five creatures.
How to grow carrots
It’s the one you probably already know, but you can buy carrot seeds and carrots at Goofy’s Stall in Peaceful Meadow. If you choose to grow them from seed, Carrots take about 5-8 minutes in the real world to grow.
If Goofy’s stall hasn’t stocked carrots or their seeds that day, you either have to wait until tomorrow to see if he has any, or you can upgrade the stall via the Scrooge McDuck panel at side to increase the amount of stuff Goofy stores. .
Once you have the carrots, you will clear this section of this task.
How to feed the critters
You’ve probably noticed the rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, and other critters running around the various biomes in the valley. You have to feed five different creatures
Once a creature lets you approach them, your inventory will open and you can feed them whatever you have in your pockets, but they have their personal favorites. Plaza Squirrels and Sunlit Plataeu Sunbirds are the easiest those to approach. All you have to do is walk up to them and they’ll be happy to see you.

Talk to Nala and Simba
Once you’ve collected the carrots and fed five critters, go to talk to Nala. Listen to what she has to say and choose any conversation option that appears, your choice doesn’t matter. Then go and talk to simba to complete this quest.
