FIFA 23 Ultimate Team is already inundated with overpowered promotional cards, but the lure of To monitor is eternal, and thanks to the addition of Nations to watch improvements over last year Earn to watch mechanics, these cards may actually remain usable in the game longer than usual. Haaland certainly will, if no one else!
But with three distinct sources of potential upgrades for these cards: team wins, country wins, and of course team of the week cards for the individual – it can be difficult to know which card is about to get a performance boost and potentially increase its value. With that in mind, we’ve put together this absolutely state-of-the-art tracking page. OK, it’s just a fancy table, but it’s prettier than EA’s, so here goes.
So! Follow this guide and you will never have to wonder if Tyler Adams or Corentin Tolisso that you have in your FIFA 23 Ultimate Team pre-order pack still has a chance of getting an upgrade or not. Good luck!

FIFA 23 OTW Team of the Week Predictions
Erling Haaland was the first player to receive a performance-based upgrade on his Ones to Watch card, going from 88 to 89 overall thanks to a stunning performance in the Manchester derby, where he registered three goals, two assists and man of the match.
We’ll start to understand who might make it Team of the week 5which is due out on Wednesday, October 17, once the previous weekend’s matches have taken place, and will then update this page to reflect any TOTW potential.
It’s always worth bearing in mind that players cannot receive two Team of the Week cards in a row, and sometimes players have planned to be included in the current promotional team – for example Road to the Knockouts, Rulebreakers, what-have-you – are left out by TOTW despite a performance that could qualify them for it.
How OTW upgrades work in FIFA 23
To monitor is the first Ultimate Team promo of the cycle and went live when FIFA 23 went on general sale. Maps are chosen based on high profile summer transfers, and this year only one team has been released. This was due to a truncated actual football schedule due to the Winter World Cup.
These are dynamic maps that can receive upgrades for three reasons:
- team of the week – OTW cards will always update if a player is included in the team of the week. Cards will not receive performance-based bonuses based on other promotions, so if Tyler Adams is featured in Team of the Year, for example (GO TYLER), his OTW will not be affected.
- man of the match – As with TOTW, OTW cards can receive a performance-based upgrade if the player earns a Man of the Match card. These are published less frequently and are often linked to domestic cup competitions.
- Earn to watch – Introduced last year, this mechanic means that OTW cards can receive an additional +1 upgrade if their team wins three out of eight domestic league matches after the card’s release. These are the matches of the national league. Cups, European matches, etc., do not count. You’d be surprised how many people forget about it. The player does not have to play in these matches to receive the upgrade.
- Nations to watch – New for FIFA 23, players will also receive a +1 upgrade if their nation wins a match at the World Cup in Qatar. The player does not need to play in these matches (or even be in the World Cup squad!) to be eligible.
In other words, it’s about paying attention to things that happen in real football. Or look at this tracking page, of course.
FIFA 23 Ones to Watch Trading Tips
While you might have stumbled here hoping to find out if your Tyler Adams needs to be upgraded, it also seems possible that you want to judge whether one of the current OTW crops is worth investing in and trying. try to profit. Good news! They can be!
Trading Dynamic Cards, as this stuff is called, is a high-risk, high-reward method of turning your modest stack of FIFA Coins into something more substantial. The idea is to buy them when they’re least desirable, then sell them when they start to build up hype.
- How it works – The price of OTW cards usually increases as a player’s last game approaches. To use a recent real-world example, Antony’s OTW card was lurking around the 200,000 mark on Friday October 7, but rose to around 230,000 on Sunday October 9 when Man United beat Everton and the winger Brazilian scored in the first half. Whoever bought at the lower price could have sold for around 18.5,000 profit (after EA levied its 5% transaction tax).
- When to buy – If you want to buy an OTW chart for trading, look for opportunities based on market declines and distance to next game. If the price of cards drops after Weekend League, for example, and a player lost their last game, it might be time to buy. Buying later in the week when people are buying Weekend League teams, or right before a game, is less of a good idea, as the player price will be inflated. Keep an eye on price tracking sites like Futbin and Futwiz to spot these patterns.
- When to sell – The best time to sell is right before the match starts in the real world. Cards increase closer to a match when people buy the card in hopes that its value will increase, making the card rarer and raising the price. Waiting for the match to take place can yield even better results, but there is no guarantee that the player will score. What you can guarantee, however, is that if the player is substituted or his team loses, the price will drop.
One thing we should also add is that some cards already have upgrades built into their market value. For example, everyone knows Man City are going to win three out of eight domestic league matches, and Erling Haaland’s OTW award reflects that. It probably won’t increase at all when City claim the third win. If someone is playing for a dominant club like Bayern Munich or Real Madrid, keep that in mind!
