How to start the Stuck in a Rut quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
You can start the Stuck in a Rut quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as soon as you arrive in Juno. After leaving Mythril Mines, head to the location marked on the map below to discover a Chocobo Ranch. Here, locate and speak to the ranch owner, Gabe. He is usually near his cabin.
After talking to Gabe, you will automatically unlock and begin the Stuck in a Rut quest.
How to fight Belle in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Your first task for Stuck in a Rut will be to fight a Chocobo. To find Belle, head to the location marked on the map below that Gabe told you about. Once you arrive here, you will discover that Belle is one of several wayward Chocobos.
To get it, you’ll need to figure out how to get around the Chocobos without alerting them to your presence. We have a complete guide showing you how to get the Junon Chocobo Belle that takes you step by step through the process.
Once you have Belle, you can head straight to Wainwright’s cabin.
How to get to Wainwright’s Hut in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
You can find the location of Wainwright’s Hut in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth marked on the map below. You will be I have to use Belle’s special ability to be able to reach it.
Head to the area marked on the map, and at ground level you should see that there is a large flat wall with arrows pointing upwards. Walk your Chocobo towards it and he will instantly grab onto it to start pulling it up. Continue walking until you reach the top.
Follow these simple steps to get to Wainwright Cabin:
- Climb the first climbable wall with your Chocobo.
- At the top, you will see another wall in front of you. Climb this too.
- Then at the top of it, climb the climbable wall to your right.
- At the top of this wall, continue climbing the next one that is directly in front of you.
- Finally, when you reach the top of the wall, follow the path to the right and you will reach Wainwright’s Hut.
How to find Wainwright Materials in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
After talking to the somewhat frustrating Wainwright, you will then be tasked with finding three pieces of driftwood for him. Now, we found out that you can complete this quest with just one or two pieces of driftwood, but we recommend completing this quest with all three.
The Wainwright will give you a map that vaguely indicates where each material can be found, but we dug (literally) with a Chocobo and found them.

Fortunately, we can find them all in the area between Wainwright’s Cabin, Under Junon Entrance, and Gabe’s Chocobo Ranch.
When you arrive at any of the locations listed above, make sure you drive your Chocobo. Keep an eye out for a red question mark above their head: that’s a sign you’re in the right place.
When it appears overhead, have your Chocobo sniff the air around it and look around until it identifies the exact direction of the piece of driftwood. All you have to do then is head in the direction the Chocobo points and use them to dig the ground when they find it, just like you would when searching for other things with a Chocobo.
Once you find all three coins, return to Wainwright’s cabin to give them to him. He will then craft the parts you need and you can take them back to Gabe to complete this quest!
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Stuck in a Rut quest rewards explained
After returning the materials to Gabe at Chocobo Ranch, you will complete the Stuck in a Rut quest and be rewarded with the following:
- SP – Whole party.
- Gil.
- Strengthened relationship with Aerith.
- Bracelet of the Queen’s Guard.
- EXP-Cloud.
- Party EXP.
- Unlocking the Chocobo cart.
THE Unlocking the Chocobo Carriage will allow you to use Gabe’s Chocobo Carriage to travel between the Grasslands and Junon. for an additional cost. This will cost you 300 Gil per trip, but it will save you time because you won’t need to go back through the Mythril Mines to get to the previous region.
