How to prepare for Tanta Sila in Forspoken
Tanta Sila is the first major boss you’ll face in Forspoken before Frey unlocks new magic, so prep is pretty straightforward. Throughout Chapters 4 and 5, you’ll travel through the Praenost region to the castle where Sila resides, so it’s recommended to keep upgrading Frey’s magic and gear. You also need to create healing drafts and increase the maximum number you can carry.
Defeating enemies and completing optional quests and challenges will increase your level providing you with more mana points which can be spent to upgrade Frey’s Magic skill tree. Mana can also be increased by stepping on glowing mana pools found all over the world.
Try to upgrade at least one of Frey’s attack spells to level. 3. Burst Shot, Scatter Shot, and Shield Shot each have their own benefits depending on your playstyle, but if you want to guarantee at least dealing damage before casting a charged spell, then Scatter Shot is the way to go as it fires a steady stream of rocks at your target while charging.
If you unlock Screen, this support magic also summons stones that will protect you against a single attack.
How to defeat Tanta Sila in Forspoken
The boss arena is the throne room of Praenost Castle where Tanta Sila awaits you. It’s a fairly long room while still being a bit narrow considering you’ll be circling around it quite a bit, so if Sila isn’t in the center you might find Frey stuck on a pillar to the side while dodging The circle.
Sila is able to summon firearms into her hands out of thin air, making her formidable up close, though she can also shoot fireballs from a distance, or even summon molten rocks so that they fall on you.
When locked on Sila, you can simply dash or dash away to dodge most of Sila’s projectiles or slashes from her Fireblade. You can safely bombard her with your ranged magic, though you’ll deal more damage if you can get behind her. There are times when she will stand in place to taunt you or charge her next attack, giving you a good window to do so.
It also doesn’t hurt to throw in any other support magic you have that can deal extra damage, including tendrils or implants, which also charge up your Surge Magic so you can hit it with Genesis. When you’ve dealt enough damage, Sila is also open to a killing blow. When this prompt appears, make sure you’re nearby to deal extra damage.
Once you’ve taken about a third of Sila’s health, a cutscene will trigger signaling the next phase of the fight. You’ve broken part of her mask and pissed her off now, so she’ll start fighting dirty by summoning battle-protected minions (the ones who stood like statues to the side the whole time).
She starts this phase by unleashing a huge ball of fire directly at you, so make sure to dodge it. Otherwise, her attacks are similar to before, but with some improvements, such as a melee attack with a fire ax where she also jumps in the air with AOE damage, while fire arrows also rain down from the top. There are, of course, also annoying soldiers at his request.
You can slash soldiers, though dispatching them means using stamina to get behind their shields, and it can be annoying trying to get targeting locked, and Sila can still step in with melee attacks while you don’t look.
Instead, it’s best to just focus on Sila and keep chipping away at her health, trying to get your strongest attacks while behind her. She also has no qualms with friendly fire, so her rampaging attacks can knock down her minions for you. Still, binding and tendril support magic will be useful for crowd control.
After another third of Sila’s health is destroyed, another cutscene will trigger. The arena turns into a highly corrupted Blue Zone, which also means Sila is even more powerful in her fiery rage state. Unfortunately, his health bar is also full for this phase, but it’s also the last phase so you’re almost there.
In addition to her previous attacks, she now rains down large balls of fire, while also spouting pockets of fire from the ground, something you need to be careful of, especially if you’re trying to dodge around her.
Once Sila loses half of her health, she will cast a spell that will set the entire floor on fire, which will lower your health, so head up high. Arena pillars that were knocked down during this phase can be used as platforms. She’ll also warp around the arena, firing more projectiles, but, as long as you’re on a platform, you can safely continue casting your own spells at her.
When the flames disappear from the ground, she’ll revert to her usual attacks, including throwing large homing fireballs, so make sure you have enough stamina to dodge them or have healing currents at to recover.
After a while she will warp at one end of the arena and start the flaming floor phase again, so go back to higher ground, watch her while she warps and keep triggering your spells. offensive. She will repeat these phases until you finally eliminate her.
