What’s in the Halo Infinite Winter update?
The ‘winter update’ is a stopgap while waiting for the delayed Season 3 and is by far the biggest since the launch of Halo Infinite, with every mode in the game receiving long-awaited additions and changes.

- New multiplayer maps Argyle and Detachment, both of which were built entirely in the new Forge mode.
- Covert One Flag multiplayer modea variant of One Flag CTF that sees one side of attackers armed with Active Camo and defenders with threat sensors, all with the goal of grabbing a single flag.
- The added bonus XP in matchrewarding players based on their performance – such as being on the winning team and being one of the best players – as well as the current end-game and challenge reward systems.
- The ultimate challenge Will now only require 10 challenges per week – and has been changed to be completed in any playlist, not just specific modes.
- The return of the “most popular” Ultimate Rewards from previous seasons during the winter update period for those who missed them.
- Introduction of rotation of playlists, with a “main” playlist slot (starting with Covert One Flag) and a “social” playlist slot (more experimental or casual modes, basically – such as Social Slayer and Rumble Pit) alternately updated every two weeks – which means there will be a new playlist every week.
