Nameless accounts have appeared in Pokémon GO with a rather annoying error for both new and experienced players.
Despite the confusion with recent changes and connection issues, the new season has brought some really fun activities. These include the Starry Sky investigation, details on Mega Rayquaza, the Dark Flames event, and all plans for July 2023.
But the experience is not so fun when it comes to creating a new account, because if you are not careful, the new bug can end everything in disaster.
Nameless Accounts in Pokémon GO
Players may end up with nameless accounts in Pokémon GO due to an annoying new bug that recently caught the attention of the community.
This bug was highlighted by a player on the TheSilphRoad subreddit, warning that if you end up catching a Pokemon that shouldn’t appear to you during the game’s tutorial, you’ll end up with a completely broken nameless account.
Not only will you skip the tutorial, which can be good news for experienced players, but you will lose the ability to use the game’s most basic features. In fact, having an unnamed account in Pokémon GO is the least of problems, since the account will eventually be unusable.
In addition to having an anonymous account in Pokémon GO, you won’t be able to see the map, PokéStops won’t reward you with anything even if you touch them, and you won’t be able to choose your starter Pokémon. The interface will also stop working and you will not be able to access basic options such as the menu or the store. Basically, the account is thrown into limbo where it works but doesn’t let you do anything.
Why does the error occur and how to avoid it?
Luckily, this isn’t one of the game’s worst bugs, though you have to admit that nameless Pokémon GO accounts are visually disastrous.
The error occurs when you create a new account and the game gives you a taste of the experience, allowing you to capture one of the Kanto starters or an adorable Pikachu. This is completely normal in any game in the series.
However, due to a recent bug, it is possible that other Pokémon will appear at this time. For example, capturing a wild Ratata will cause you to skip the tutorial and go straight into the game. But before you celebrate, it means you won’t be able to go through the screen to place your name as required by the tutorial. Thereafter, your account will be unusable.
Restarting the game doesn’t change anything. Also, based on the comments on the post, the error is pretty consistent and can happen to anyone. The worst thing is that there is no indication that this is a bug, since everything seems to be part of the game.
Fortunately the solution is quite intuitive: you will have to delete the newly created account and recreate it. Just make sure you don’t catch a banned Pokemon. But it has raised some concerns in the community.
First of all, having to delete an account is dangerous. Remember that Niantic has all of its products linked, so deleting Niantic account will cause you to lose your data in all games you have used it in. Even so, it’s something experienced players or those who don’t have any games other than Pokémon GO can avoid. But what about new players?
Trainers are concerned that some enthusiastic beginners will download the game and catch a random Pokemon without knowing that their account will be rendered useless. In this case, most will simply uninstall the app and never come back.
The community hopes that the update of the famous anonymous accounts bug in Pokémon GO can attract the attention of Niantic and finally fix this bug. Especially at a time when it seems like the company is trying to listen to its community more often.
