Warmaster’s Hut and Bernahl Stock Location
You can go to the Warmaster’s Hut early on, so it’s likely that’s where you’ll first encounter a Bell Hunter. The cabin is located east of Storm Veil Castle. Here is the location on the map where the cabin is located with its own Site de Grace:
If you come here normally during the day, you will meet the knight Bernahl in the hut, who stands here in full armor and offers his wares.
He mainly sells Ashes of War. Click on “Learn a talent” in the dialog window and you can unlock its products:
- Ashes of War: Tamper – 1500 runes
- Ashes of War: Kick – 800 runes
- Ashes of War: Persevere – 600 runes
- Ashes of War: War Roar – 800 runes
- Ashes of War: Whirling Slash – 1200 runes
- Ashes of War: Impaling Strike – 1000 runes
- Ashes of War: Quickstep – 800 runes
- Ashes of War: Storm Blade – 1800 runes
- Ashes of War: Parade – 600 runes
- Ashes of War: No talents – 600 runes
So far so good, but visit the cabin at night and you might get a surprise. Rest until nightfall and if Bernahl is still in the cabin, rest again (without letting any time pass).
Bell Bearing Hunter Locations
Here are all the places you can find a Bell Hunter and the rewards you’ll get for defeating them. Remember that you will only be able to face this enemy at night:
Limgrave
This boss only appears at night. He can appear in various places such as in the Warmaster’s cabin in Limgrave of course, but also in other regions.
Defeat the Hunter in Limgrave to win 2700 Runes and the Bone Pedlar’s Bell Bearing.
Liurnie
In the Liurnia Lakes region, the Bell Hunter appears at the Church of Vows, also only at night (during the day you will meet Miriel, Pastor of Vows):
Defeat the hunter in Liurnia to get 6000 runes and the Meat Merchant’s Bell Bearing.
Altus Plateau
On the Altus Plateau, you will find him at night near the Hermit Merchant’s Hut on the outskirts of the capital:
Defeat him and you will get 20,000 runes and the Medicine Peddler’s Bell Bearing.
Celide
By far the most powerful Bell Hunter in Elden Ring, this one appears at night at the Lone Merchant’s Hut in Caelid. Be careful not to frighten the hyena dogs present in the area during the fight:
Beat him to 50,000 runes and the Gravity Stone Peddler’s Bell Bearing.
How to Defeat Bell Bearing Hunters
If you’re new to Limgrave Hut early on, the Bell Bearing Hunter is a very tough opponent that you may want to save for later (his incarnations become that much tougher). Otherwise, let’s take a closer look at this guy.
First, you can land a few hits while the Bell Bearing Hunter appears. It takes him a while to “really get there” and fight back, so take advantage of it.
The bad thing about his sword is that he can detach it from his hand and cover a larger area with it. It then lights up red. Roll in his direction when he does this and you have a good chance of counterattacking.
He also uses the sword as a sort of drill, you can recognize this attack before it happens by the fact that he clearly charges the animation with a shimmering red blade. At the last moment, jump diagonally to the side and follow up with a few hits yourself.
Pay attention when his left hand starts to glow. He grabs you by the scruff of the neck and crushes you to the ground with a swing of his sword, dealing the heaviest damage of all his attacks (the hitbox when grabbing is very, shall we say, favorable to him). Stay back or dodge towards his body to counterattack.
Sometimes he will rush at you with his shoulder or shield, but this won’t do too much damage like piercing and grabbing will.
It may also be worth sticking with him to trigger his normal melee combos. These are not very sophisticated and consist mainly of two-handed swings. Dodge and you will have plenty of opportunities to attack.
