Finding yourself in a prison during Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong, you may have already met one of its chief captains, but Captain Wise-Voice is the one you must defeat if you want to definitively leave this prison of the kingdom of pagodas.
A large four-legged Yaoguai king towering over you, this fight takes place in a fairly enclosed and dimly lit arena, a bit of a shame given the beautiful carvings that adorn the doors and walls. Okay, you’ll have some light, but expect more hostile lightning than a reading lamp.
This guide will provide you with all the information you need about How to Beat Captain Wise-Voice in Black Myth: Wukong.

How to Prepare for Captain Wise-Voice
You’ll find Captain Wise-Voice shortly after reaching a shrine called “Mani Wheel“in the Pagoda Realm. There is a narrow, rocky path that leads to the relatively small room where you fight him and you cannot advance any further without eliminating him.
Since this boss uses lightning-based attacks that can inflict the Shock status, it’s good to have some Anti-shock powder equipped in your inventory, while you can also Ask Xu Dog to swap your mental cores to improve your shock resistanceprovided you have already helped them in Chapter 2 and have unlocked the ability to craft Celestial Medicines.
Captain Wise-Voice is actually one of three captains you must defeat if you wish to progress in the Pagoda Kingdom Prisoner Quest
How to beat Captain Wise-Voice
During his first phase, Captain Wise-Voice will typically use physical attacks, attempting to ram you or crush you with his big head. But while you can theoretically target his head, you’ll actually want to target his feet – one of which is covered in red markings to attract your attention.
He can also jump and try to stomp on you, but this is relatively easy to dodge, so you can stay under him by his legs and combo him to boost his focus. He can also emit a roar that has the effect of slowing down time while halve your health barSo it is best to play it safe during these sections and focus on defensive play.
It’s worth it use spells early on like Immobilize or even Wind Tamer (which still gives you a defense bonus even if there’s no wind to dispel, which also briefly stuns the boss) just so you can get an early advantage to further bolster your focus. Once you have an opening, spend your focus points on a heavy attack with Smash or Thrust stance. This should be powerful enough to not only stun the boss, but also make its legs give out while it’s falls to the ground.
This gives you a a huge window to attack its weak point – its golden-headed core. It should stay down long enough for you to get away with three full light attack combos, which should be enough to max out your focus points for another heavy, concentrated thrust attack. This alone should be enough to reduce Captain Wise-Voice’s health by half, which brings us to his second, more tricky phase.
Second phase
He will now begin using lightning attacks. At first, he will focus his energy on the ground in front of him before slamming his head down to create a fairly powerful blow. Shockwave AOE. But when it really means business, the music will change and we will then move to a Laser party at full speed. You won’t be able to do much damage at this point (in any case, aiming for his legs will only do fairly insignificant damage) because you will have to focus on escape.
Its golden core will charge and shoot several beams of light onto the ground, each with its own small area of effect, your cue for move away from their explosion zones. You’ll need to keep moving, either by running or doing dodge rolls, as these beams seem to just follow you. This continues for a while until it decides to charge the entire floor, first in the same bright light before turning red, like the floor turning into lava. During this time, make sure you have move into pillar stance, then hold heavy attack to balance on your staff above the ground and you will be unharmed. If you have been the victim of an electric shock, this will also be the time to treat yourself with shock powder.
Once this attack is over, Captain Wise-Voice will need to recharge before resuming his area flash attacks, but he will still be able to use the same physical attacks as before, as well as that roar that slows down time and reduces HP by half. However, if you use Immobilize on him while in this state, it should both cancel its effects and freeze him so you can attack him with your combos.
Keep attacking his legs when you have an opening, as the more attacks you land, the more Focus and Qi you can build up. If you used Wind Tamer at the start of the fight, you may find that your Qi has recovered so you can use it again to bolster your defense. Whether you attack his legs or have full Focus to perform another targeted heavy attack, you should be able to do so. Overthrow Captain Wise-Voice again so you can deal more damage to its core.
Given the small amount of damage you can deal to his legs, you may need to knock him down one more time before finally landing the killing blow, but repeat the above and you should squash this bug with no problem.
Captain Wise-Voice Rewards
With the killing blow to Captain Wise-Voice, you will earn the following rewards:
