THE Gael’s Tunnel in Elden Ring is a location west of Caelid, on the border of Limgrave. Several enemies block your path here, so you’ll need to take them out if you want to continue.
At the end of this area of Elden Ring, you’ll encounter a mini-boss that may be (literally) too hot to handle.
Here is how to clear the Gael Tunnel and defeat the Magma Wyrm in Elden Ring.

How to find and clear the Gael Tunnel in Elden Ring
You will find the Gael Tunnel to the west of the Caelid region. In the first room, behind the soldiers, you need to go down to the “Gael Tunnel” grace site, but there is no way back up at the moment until we find the back entrance.
Follow the mine tunnel to the largest room and kill the soldiers and miners stationed here. The corpse next to the barrels will give you 1x Golden Rune (5).
The right passage leads behind a kneeling soldier and a small ground octopus into a cave with a giant ground octopus. The beast heals itself, but it easily knocked down by continuous blows to the head.
If he drops a Land Octopus Ovary, be sure to pick it up. You can also extract some Forge stones (4) and Somber Smithing Stones (4) here, and the corpse in the room also leaves behind the Cross Naginata Spear, which has three blades.
Back in the main mine room, we can take out a few miners on the left under the wooden platform, as well as two soldiers, and loot the additional forgestones in the area. The corpse behind the crates 1x chicken foot marinated in gold.
All that remains is the passage to the northwest, where you reach a ladder after a few enemies. At the bottom there are two corpses with 5x large shimmering stone remnants And 5x Grace imitates.
The southern tunnel leads directly to the large wooden door with the Magma Wyrm boss behind it, but before you do that you can open a small door to the left of it and unlock a new grace site “Gael Tunnel Rear Entrance “.
This rear entrance also serves as an exit. Behind him, you will land east of Limgrave and can use fast travel again.
How to defeat the Gael Tunnel Magma Wyrm in Elden Ring
We already know this boss in its even deadlier form, the Magma Wyrm Makar, which you will have fought in the Ruin-strewn Precipice. The advantage of this nameless magma creature is that it does not have a second phase, like Makar does.
Avoid the magma he spews all over the arena and leaves on the ground (although it’s easier said than done in these conditions), and continually hitting one’s head to unbalance the slow wyrm and break its position. Once broken, you can deal critical damage.
However, you can also hits his tail and stay relatively safe from his attacks if you have any trouble with him. You won’t deal as much damage, but you’ll have an easier time dodging his attacks and staying alive.
It’s quite slow, so standing helps, and you’ll have to dodge when he stomps wildly around the arena spewing magma. With Site de Grace just around the corner, you won’t have to go far.
This is a much easier fight than the one against the Makar variant of the Magma Wyrm, and should hopefully be defeated with relative ease. Your reward for this is:
- x7500 runes
- dragon heart
- Moon veil katana
That’s all for the moment! You should now be able to enter the Gael Tunnel from both sides.
