How to Beat Kale in Hi-Fi RUSH
That’s it, you finally managed to face Kale. This battle will take some time, so make sure you’re ready before you jump in. Make stops at the base to improve your moves or special attacks beforehand.
There are spoilers in the first section below.we recommend reaching this boss fight before continuing to read our guide.
First stage
Now, the first stage of this boss battle is unlike anything you’ve encountered before in Hi-Fi RUSH.
Yes, it’s time for you to play as 808!
Chai is out for the count, so it’s now 808 to be the hero. Kale will stand at one end of the room and throw waves of fire at you. You, as 808, must run towards Kale jumping at the right time to avoid getting caught in these waves.
Once you get to Kale, press the requested command before he can cast any more waves. Then look at your screen. Press the requested command at the right time when the circle turns green to have 808 slice his claws off Kale.
If you manage to do it twice, Chai will wake up and you will start playing with him again.
Second step
Once Chai is back on his feet, the fight will continue on the roof. Kale will now have a set of new attacks that he will use throughout this stage of the fight until you bring his health bar down to zero.
Like it was when you tried to beat Mimosa, Kale is lightly armored
A green circle will appear around Kale, then it will turn red. When this happens, make sure you are not standing in or near the circle around it. He will call for electricity and this whole circle will be swallowed up in it.
Also pay attention that a green and red circle forms on the ground where Chai is. Once it’s almost entirely red, dodge quickly to avoid being hit from above. You will need dodge these circles at least three times whenever Kale activates this attack.
While you avoid Kale, peppermint appeal as she can do damage to him from afar, so you won’t need to approach him to call him.
The next attack will also be indicated by a red line that appears in front of Kale. This will show where his sword attack will land. If you can jump to dodge this and land behind Kale, now is a good time to use some quick attacks.
Also if you can handle it then you’re behind it stopover in Korsica and Macaroon.
Kale, like many other bosses, has dash attacks. If he doesn’t use another attack and looks at you, then turns to face you, that’s a good indicator that he’s about to dash. These attacks are quite easy to dodge, don’t bother trying to parry them.
You can, however, parry his next set of attacks. Well, not his, but they’re from the drones floating around him. One of them will shoot you on its own and flash before it, this gives you time to prepare your parry.
Another drone attack comes from each of them. They go all flash to the beat, try to remember this beat as it is the timing of their next attacks. All you have to do is parry them at the right time to send them back to Kale to hurt him.
Kale will occasionally slice you throughout the fight, you can dodge them and use your grappling hook to pull yourself towards Kale to attack him. Again, when you’re away from Kale, call on Peppermint to deal damage to him. If you are close to him, call Korsica and Macaron.
Yet another attack from Kale is easy to anticipate. Whether He jumps in the air, make sure you don’t stand still or he will pounce on you and slice you. There are a few seconds after he jumps where you can move before he attacks, giving you plenty of time to get out of the way.
Near the end of this section of combat, when Kale’s health is depleted, you need to pace.
This works exactly the same as previous boss fights, you’ll see the rhythm of his attacks appears above Kale’s head
If you manage to manage this, you will move on to the next step.
Third step
Kale’s health bar will regenerate and he’s also recovered some minor buffs. He now has four extra arms and a bunch of new attacks to watch out for.
One of his first and most important new attacks is that he will jump in the air then jumps on you. Get out of the way as he jumps and run towards him once he lands. He will briefly be stuck in the ground.
You must now call Macaroon as it will begin to break the shields of Kale’s new arms. While Macaron is getting his hits, you can land a few powerful attacks on Kale. you must focus your attacks on one of its arms to break it. However, once Kale starts moving, you need to step back or he’ll catch you with a quick attack.
When Kale begins to form a shield above her head, call Peppermint and she will quickly break it.
He also has a new dash attack, it works the same as the previous dash attack, only he can go further. This means you need to make sure you are as far away from him as possible to avoid getting caught.
Kale will use these new attacks until he is stuck in the ground again. As before, call on Macaron to break the armor of his arms and then focus your attacks on one of them while he’s pinned to the ground.
Once Kale returns, he will display another new attack while using the existing ones. This time he will have the ability to use a flamethrower but you can call Korsica to counter these attacks without injury.
Throughout this fight, summon Peppermint as much as you can, but try to save Korsica and Macaron for when they’re needed. Each time you remove Kale’s arms, he loses more of his health bar.
Keep attacking Kale when he’s stunned, focus your attacks on his arms to delete them until it’s at its last.
When Kale gets to his final robotic arm, he’ll gain yet another new attack. This one is a very fast attack, he will slice you with his sword. When you see him raise the sword and pull it out, try to get as far away from him as possible.
He will use this new attack, then the others from this stage until you stun him again. Once he’s stunned, attack him once more to remove his last arm.
Once all of his robotic arms have been removed, you’ll move on to the next section of the fight. Hang on, you’re almost there!
Step 4
Again, Kale has another update. Don’t worry, you already know how to beat him in this section.
Kale uses the exact same attacks as in the first part of her fight with Chai. The only difference is that they are faster and much stronger this time. Only parry when you need to and dodge the rest of the time to ensure you survive Kale.
Use everything you’ve learned so far to lower his health bar again. Once at zero, you will enter the final phase of the fight.
Final step
Don’t worry, you’re almost there, just a few things left to do.
When Kale’s health bar reaches zero, you replay the parry game. Exactly as before you go see the rhythm of his attacks appear above Kale’s head and you’ll see if you need to parry or dodge them. Parry and dodge to this pattern to start ending the fight.
You will then find yourself at the bottom and that’s it.
All you need to do now is press the requested commands in time with the beat to team up with your allies and take him down!
Once you’ve managed to bring down Kale, you’ve completed your mission. You shut down SPECTRA and returned Vandelay to what it should have been all along, a place to help people!
